Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
Hebrews 2:1
That is to say, we must hold firmly unto the Truth of the Gospel, so that it cannot slip.
The idea here in the Greek, it is a picture of a ring on a finger that is slipping and sliding off the finger until it is fallen and lost.
A ring is that which is important to the wearer for the cause of which he or she wears it.
So is the believer in relation to the Gospel and with Christ. Like a ring, let us be grateful and aware of the reason it represents, by holding on to it dearly. So shall the Gospel and Christ be unto the believer.

Hearing
