There should be a distinction between the two. Choir practice is not the same as the choreographed dance that has been widely accepted by Christians lately as a means of worship.
If the choir rehearses, or practice, it is the means of preparation for coming into the presence of the Lord. It will be the same as leaving a crowded room for a quiet place to pray and seek the Lord. However, here is the difference between a choir rehearsing and those that engage in choreograph dance as a means of worship. A dance is the expression of gratitude sincerely from the heart, shown without. If a person must practice to show that they are thankful to the Lord, then he or she hasn’t really felt anything to be thankful for. They instead are mimicking the reaction of a feeling that should be natural, but for the lack of it, they choreograph, or strategize their expression.
Does this imply choreograph dance is wrong? Absolutely not, if it is done right for an entertainment purpose, it is pleasing to the sight. However, for a Christian to be thankful to the Lord, it is not for an entertainment, but the gratitude that we feel, we express. Some raise their hands, some pivot, others clap their hands and motion their heads. Others dance, but they dance because they are thankful, but not through a strategy to entertain.
If the Church strategized to entertain men through their choreography dance, who gets the glory? Those that are dancing get the glory.
Who are the dancers thankful for? Not God, but they are thankful for those they are entertaining.
It didn't sit well with me so I had similar conversation with someone about it, but brought out the point about a choir practice rehearsing before they sing, comparing both to be the same.
I understand your point, although I can't put my finger on it to say why I think it's wrong.. but personally speaking, it just doesn't sit well with me.

Yeah but it doesn't seem natural.
