Hahaha at @Matthew no I'm not a politician but it grieves my heart to see the direction of moral downfall in the country and the ridicule of christians by those on T.V
First, all things must be carry-out by the will of God or it won't work. Secondly, the world perception of politics, shouldn't be the Christian approach to politics.
For most in the world, politics is a path on which they gain power, fame and the control of others. If this is the desire of the Christian, then he or she is already on the wrong path.
The life you live as a Christian, the right way. It will have a far more everlasting effect than many politicians combined.
The person you talk to, if they see Christ in you, this could have a positive everlasting effect. They could go on and become a leader of some kind.
The presence of God they saw in you will always be with them. Even if they are not a leader, they can share with someone what they’ve learned from you and that person can share with another, an ongoing effect.
Imagine some of the greatest American Presidents, most of them had godly mothers, who had nothing to do with politics, but they taught their boys the importance of living the Christian life. The words of their mothers stuck with them. Mary Washington for an example, in her words to her son George Washington; Remember that God is our only trust. To Him, I commend you …. my son, neglect not the duty of secret prayers.
Years later in Pennsylvania, Valley Forge, with the trail of bloody footprints in the snow, for the lack of proper equipment; General George Washington, watches his army slowly perish before his eyes. This was the beginning of the birth of the United States, as they faced the greatest army of their day, the fighting force of the British empire. He remembered the words of his mother to him. The General sought a quiet place, where he knelt and began to pray.
History recalled, a residence walking by in the snow, heard the General praying and the moving words of his prayer. This individual, then relays what he witnessed to his wife, they and friends gather together to the aid of General Washington and his men. For that reason, the General and his army were able to live another day, to face the British empire, eventually they won the independence of the United States.
The United States of America is not perfect, but how many have been blessed over the years because of the USA? Millions have, all because of one man, through him a new nation came forth. From Valley Forge, to now and into the future, millions of rewards are accounted to George Washington in heaven.
However, wherever and whenever there is a blessing accounted to George Washington because of the nation he brought forth, beneath the surface is a double blessing or reward to a little mother, Mary Washington for the positive Christian value she sowed into the life of her son, President George Washington.
Arnold Friberg 1975 painting The Prayer at Valley Forge.
Before politics, is government and the idea of a government, is an ordered society subject to law, without which there is anarchy. Although the question here is, should a Christian partake in politics? Before the question is answered, one ought to understand that politics is not a standalone entity, meaning without a government there cannot be politics. So, considering, a government is an order of society that is subject to law, consequently, yes, we all need government and politics. Although there are bad governments, but how shall they see the light if we are the light, but we are hidden? We are the salt of the earth, meaning we preserve society, by preventing it from rot and decay.
The idea of a salt as a preservative, is when the substance of salt is used to preserve an element. In which the salt is applied by the hands, by rubbing through, with a physical contact with the element, or thing. The salt is rubbed over the surface until it penetrates the surface by entering into the element. Therewith, the chemical of the salt becomes one with the element and its compounds served as a preservative.
So, considering the Christian is the salt of the earth, we cannot serve as a preservative unless we physically come in contact with society, through participation and interaction with society of which are government and politics. Furthermore, we are told to pray for those in government who bring forth politics. (1 Timothy 2:1-3)
Praying for a political leader, doesn’t necessarily means your adoration for them. Although the heart shouldn’t conceal intense dislike or hatred for anyone. However, we pray for a leader that he or she will not act against the Word of God. Wherewith, the Gospel will be hindered or where the Christian is subject to an ill-treatment because of faith in Jesus Christ.
The Bible is filled with the accounts of the influence of the believer in politics by the command of God. Though they did not seek to rule as political leaders, but they served as a light to darkness and a salt to preserve society and nations.
Believers in politics
Like Joseph, sold into slavery by his brothers and imprisoned by Egypt. There came a time, Joseph was in the position to freely choose to help the political system of Egypt, or choose not to help, and slowly watch their demise. Nevertheless, Joseph put the will of God over his personal feelings. He chose not to separate himself from the government of Egypt of that day. Instead, he let the Light of God shine through him, and he became a salt to their deterioration by working with them. They too received the blessings of God. Joseph didn't embrace segregation, and Joseph didn't face limitation. The slave boy became a great teacher and a leader. (Genesis 41:40-43)
Moses, living his life as a father and a husband, he was called to face the greatest political system in opposition to their economy which was based upon slavery, and he did.
Esther, her influence in a government system other than her own, led to the preservation of her people from total eradication. Today, Jews celebrate the day of Purim to commemorate Esther’s achievement in foreign politics.
Although, there are times we ought to step away from politics when it present harm to the believer, which will in turn stop the Gospel from going forth. Such was Abraham’s nephew, Lot. He was warned by God through angels, to leave his city for what it has become. Nevertheless, the account of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah is almost only unique to Sodom and Gomorrah.
Therefore, we ought to continue to be a light and a salt to this world.
Another account of the believer in politics is found in the account of Jonah and the city of Nineveh. Most cities welcome the visitors with pleasantries through scenery and architecture accomplishment. However, the city of Nineveh at that time, welcome its visitors through the display of the pile of human skulls as a warning to visitors. If any speaks against their political system, their head will end up on the mountain of skulls. Yet, God sent Jonah to speak against them through warning . . . So, the people of Nineveh believed God and proclaimed a fast. (Jonah 3:5)
In closing, we ask the question of the apostle Paul; For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?
@k.dees I totally agree.. like the distasteful insult to christians from the lady on the View.
@k.dees I understand. At least theet are some liberties now than under previous administration

Thanks for clearing that, but still a question. So it isn't wrong to pursued political goals as Christians today?
