Amusement really isn't funny.
A close look at the word reveals some surprising things.
"A- MUSE" means the absence of musing (consideration), or When
you are amused you are not thinking
or at least not thinking about anything important.
When you go to an amusement park,
you're entering a place where you won't have to consider,
you won't have to think things through.
When you turn on the TV for amusement,
you're doing it so that you can set your mind in
neutral. Another meaning of amuse involves diverting someone's attention so that you can deceive them.
Sometimes not thinking is nice. Even the brain needs a break now and then. But when amusement becomes a lifestyle, it isn't Amusing, it's a tragedy. God created man to muse. He gave him
the capacity to consider, to meditate. And if a man muses long enough, he might even muse about his Creator.
