  • Happiness during hard times?

    Growing up as a child, or at least many years ago for the majority, the aspiration was what do I want to be when I grow up. For the most part, such thoughts always led to a joyful feeling and a hope for another day. But with the progression of time and changes in today's society, a GRANDEUR society of grandiosity. Little things are somewhat little or irrelevant. Therefore, the majority push for the bigger things. In most cases, the bigger pursuing comes with a bigger reality. Wherein happiness is missing, aspiration is no longer a plan for the future, but rather the right now mentality. “I want it, and I want it now” Whereas, others simply cease from any desire for a change. Then there is the conclusion in some circles; the younger you are, the happier you are. But with age comes burden and the loss of joy. Although there is some truth to that, but why just stop to a mere conclusion and not a solution or an insight to why children are happier than most adults? Before this is studied closely, let the question be asked. Is there anyone perfect, can perfection be found at its peak in anyone without any flaws? Unequivocally no. So then, why do we so often seek the change we need from within ourselves, if we were a super-agent of change we won’t be in the already dreadful situation we find ourselves in, would we? On the contrary, a child look to its parents for change, provision, love and understanding. In such stand, its expectation is not within itself, but from a higher source, the parents or guardians. However, we do not always stay a child. One definition of a child is, one who is the product of another; or whose principles and morals are the product of another. If we are no longer a child, as an adult, who principles and morals do we live by? As adults, we step into a phase of accountability. But to whom are we accountable? Knowing there is none perfect. The understanding of this question will determine true happiness and joy or the pretense thereof. Daily we fall short of perfections, leaving us with a void, regrets, agony, sorrow and the more like of. In spite of all this, we are not left alone. Though we are broken, but at one point that which is now broken was first made. If we are not perfect, yet we seek perfections. We, then, came from the perfect source. God is that source, the God of the Bible. As a child look to its parent, without fully understanding the role and duties of its parent, yet, the child shows its dependency. So, should the adult, in his or her relationship with God. Let this be clarify, the acknowledgment of God does not suffice the knowing of God. To know is to learn to commit through fellowship. I acknowledge the fact that an ATM gives out money, but without having a personal link to the bank, a card and a pin, I am not granted funds from the ATM. Whenever we enter into a fellowship with God. There is less burden to bear. Like a child, without a burden. Its trust is in the parent, giving the child more time to be happier than trusting in its feeble efforts. Greater than our parents and their parents and grandparents is the Lord. If we trust our parents growing up as a child or whomever we looked up to for the right cause. Now, as an adult we can trust in God for all our needs. Like the poem of 1855 What a friend we have in Jesus All our sins and griefs to bear And what a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer Oh, what peace we often forfeit Oh, what needless pain we bear All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged Take it to the Lord in prayer Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share?   • The world and the backsliding believer

    Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord… 2 Corinthians 6:17 Separation is not isolation, nevertheless, putting right with wrong doesn’t justify the wrong. However, calling wrong, what it is, thus set up the opportunity to rectify the wrong through correction; to make it right. Whenever the child of God leaves his or her position in Christ, to reach out to the world, not to proclaim thus saith the Lord, but in hope to gain favor with the world. He or she will first compromise the righteousness of God, by removing His righteousness and accepting the sinful nature of the world upon themselves, to be accepted by the world. This act is never a progression, but a regression. It is never a gained, but a loss, it is never a blessing, but a curse. It is never a secured state, but the exposure of oneself to danger. We should never forsake who we are in order to please the world because those that are of the world, of whom are not willing to make things right with God. They will stop at naught until the believer is on their level as a sinner. H.A. Ironnside once said, it is impossible not to violate a godly conscience, once we accept the fellowship of the wicked. You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free.   • The dilemma of a progression regression

    As knowledge increases, the understanding of men expands, but the moral responsibility among men diminishes, and the fine line between right from wrong is fading. The more we understand, the more we fail to enact the responsibilities of what we have learned. What could be the reason for the dilemma of a progression regression? Instinctively the word "understanding" brings to mind the idea to discern and rightly so, but a closer look at the word, will establish its rightful purpose. Without which, though the mind understands a given scenario, yet, it is imbalance to discern judgment. Therefore, the idea of "understanding" has its foundation in the word "between.” Consequently, to rightly understand is to discern between. The discernment between good and evil. Without which those who understand, yet, their understanding is incomplete, and their judgment is flawed, thus rending the individual corrupt. Like the great minds of the world, of whom are hailed for their prestigious understanding for their given expertise. Many of whom in their understanding they do not discern evil because of their rejection of God. For him who discerns evil must know there is a greater than evil which is good, and is of God, and is God. But for their rejection of God, though they understand, they fail to understand to discern between good and evil, right and wrong. Therefore, the result of their understanding combined availeth naught. However, when that which is right is distinguished from that which is wrong. When evil is distinguished from good, then shall the mind clearly perceives by seeing the contrast between right and wrong, good and evil. So then, true understanding is from God because until the mind discerns evil from good and God as good. The mind is only seen in part, but not as whole. For how can darkness be explained without the mentioned of light? So then, the mind that rejects God, it will never obtain understanding in its fullness. But for the few who believe in God, though they now walk in the light, they from the beginning walked in darkness. Therefore, are aware of its ravaging effects, though we oppose evil because we believe in that which is good, but we do not deny the presence of evil nor waver to distinguish the wrong from right. Thus, the understanding of those who believe in God and His righteousness is superior to those who understand, but fails to retain God in their understanding. For we obtain understanding not as the gathering of knowledge like a collection of data. It is not how much we know, rather how well we apply that which we have learned. Spurgeon once said, “to know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it.” A knowledge possessed must be a knowledge use in wisdom. Until it is rightly used, it is a knowledge wasted, and wisdom corrupted. Nevertheless, that which we now understand is given to us from God that it may be used to govern our lives and for the governing of the people. This is wisdom, the discernment to judge by distinguishing wrong from right, good from evil. One can only obtain such understanding by knowing within them dwells nothing that is good, but by the willing acceptance of God's grace for His imputed righteousness. Wherewith we know that which is right by knowing the opposite of that which is right. Acknowledging good from evil, right from wrong, this is true understanding. Without this, society enters the stage of unaccountability. This is the beginning of recklessness, tyranny and self-inflicted problems. When the influence of the people is no longer morality, it becomes an influence that hinders progress.   • The commission of the Christian’s strength and courage.

    Commission is the act of entrusting, as a charge or duty. The state of being authorized to act, or perform a service. Where there’s a commission, there is an expectation of a function given by an authority. It is incumbent upon the receiver of the commission to perform as intended. Or else the outcome of the duty will not be as it was meant to be, regardless if the commissioned does it with a willing heart, but the wrong way. Such is the condition of many Christians and their fellowship with God. With a willing heart they abide, but for a wrong undertaking and a mindset, they struggle in the Christian life and living. The degrees of struggle vary, and struggle at times differs. Christianity by association, and Christianity by Salvation. We must be affiliated with others that are saved that through affiliation, we are transitioned to Salvation. Thereby becoming a Christian by Salvation, and not only a Christian by association. Although Salvation is not predicated upon others, for the heart that desires God will be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13. Insight to the study The exposition of the study of that which was then, may serve as an illustration and an example to the Christian, now. The book of Joshua is a continuation of the history of the Pentateuch. The term which means five, the collection of five books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, and then the continuation, Joshua. These are also referred to as the Torah, a word indicating to teach. That wish was then, may it serve as a lesson to instruct to the willing hearts, now. Within the history found in the book of Joshua is the record of Israel crossing the Jordan river into Canaan, after the death of Moses. Herein is a stage of transition, from a stage of association as people of faith, to a long process which would ultimately result into Christianity by Salvation. The book is named after the principle character, Joshua. Through his fellowship and walk with God, the supreme of all, let us now come with open hearts that we may learn to walk the journey wherewith we must walk in life and living, for prosperity. The promise, the condition of the promise and blessings As Joshua faces transition, he was given the promise of blessing by God, moreover, he was given the condition for the blessings. To this we read: Only be thou strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the Law, which Moses My Servant commanded you: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper whithersoever you go. Joshua 1:7 When the Human mind anticipates a change, instinctively he or she perceives that it is in the best interest to push forward. As the mind perceives, the individual will must empower the individual to victory. Nevertheless, wanting to do the right thing without the rightful instruction, does not guarantee the best result. In such incident, strength and courage becomes the focus while abruptly bringing an end to the full instructions given, as it was given to Joshua. Only be thou strong and very courageous. Notice, however, how the command continues. Be strong to do what, overcome the enemy or opposition? No, but be strong to observe the way of the Lord. Remember the battle of the Christian life is spiritual. Consequently, our strength, and our courage is not the struggle against that which we ought not to do, but the observing of God's will in our life that all things may happen in its time according to His will. To this we read again: Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law or the teaching. The key to observing the ways of the Lord Constant connection with our Bible. Verse 8. This book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth. The idea of the terminology used here is not only for the daily reading of the Bible, but that which proceed out of our mouths, represents who we are. Therefore, let our observation and the reading of the Word shows through us in our lives and our living. This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shalt make your way prosperous, and then you shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 The condition of the promise and blessings This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. Joshua 1:8 Observe, there is nowhere in the condition for the blessing did the Lord command Joshua to be strong as He did previously. The reason for such is the strength spoken of here is not the believer’s will power to overcome opposition through a continuing struggle, but the courage to let go of our will and fasten and bind ourselves to God’s will. Thus, we read in John 15:7 If you remain in Me, and My Words remain in you, whatever you desire you will ask, and it shall happen to you. So then, let not our struggle be to overcome, from whatsoever it may be, bondage, uncontrollable temper, sins of the flesh, fear, or the likes. Let the believer be courageous and strong to observe the ways of God by abiding in Him by faith. Looking to Jesus alone, instead of looking at the many problems, ultimately that which we look at continually, it is all we shall see eventually. Having gained a better understanding of that which we ought to do, once again like a good Father and instructor, the Lord again calls the believer's attention away from the obstacles, to focus on Him. Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord your God is with thee whithersoever thou go.   • Law and Grace

    To be at peace, or the recurrence of weariness. The mind is the liberation of being human. Yet it is the most powerful element of keeping a person bound when he or she intransigently refuse to accept another alternative, to a cause of liberation. The focus of the exposition here is Law and Grace. This we know, the Law is Holy and good, and Grace; we all need. Nevertheless, the misunderstanding of a subject without correction, will gradually lead to the perversion of that subject. The perversion in this case is defined as a curve that reverses the direction of something. So then, before that which is reversed, it was started on a path, a right path. In this case, the path is the Law. However, a path is that which leads to a destination. A path without a destination is a path off-course. He or she thereon is lost or astray. This is the condition of most Christians. They accept the Law as Holy and good, and rightly so, but the distortion of the Law is the misunderstanding of the Holy aspect of the Law. Yes, the Law is Holy and good, but the Holiness of the Law is not in the Christian. Rather, God is the author of the Law and He is Holy, not the believer. Shall we acknowledge the Law while ignoring its requirements? Certainly not. Gill said concerning the Law, it is a transcript of the holy nature of God, a declaration of His Holy will; it requires holiness both of heart and life; it forbids whatever is unholy, and commands nothing but what is holy. So then, if the Law forbids whatsoever is unholy, is the believer unaccountable for holiness? Before this is answered, it is better to understand what the Law is in relation to Grace. The Law in relation to Grace, differ from the Mosaic Law in its function as the constitution of the nation, and the determination of civil and criminal cases. Meaning, if it was wrong to steal thousands of years ago when the law was given, it is as well wrong to steal today. These are the moral aspect of the Law, but they are not to be ignored, through the deeds of stealing, lying, coveting and the likes thereof. Nevertheless, these are not to be the believer’s object of faith. Rather, faith in the Lord will usher a closer walk with the Lord. A closer walk with the Lord, means sin shall not have dominion over the believer. (Romans 6:14) The Law in Relation to Grace. The word Law or Torah; its basic meaning is teaching or instruction, with implication to a parent instructing the youth. Now, illustratively speaking, the youth that is being instructed is placed on a path of learning, so is the believer in relation with God. The parents or parent is aware that perfection or holiness is not within the child, but the child is set on a path while knowing the nature of the parent. There comes a time, however, the child that is being taught must become an adult. The Law was the path of instruction, and Grace is the completion of the Law. He who dwells in the Law is as an adult who refuses to leave childhood. Therefore, the Law wasn’t given to prefect the believer (Galatians 2:21), but to show the believer what he or she ought to be. Like looking into a mirror, it shows you what you are, but it cannot change who you are. There arise struggles and problems when a believer puts their faith in the Law, but fails to see the changes in their lives. As God has shown us what we ought to be through His nature by the Law; likewise, He has provided the means by which we are to be like Him. This is the line between Law and Grace, and this is the Cross of Christ. Before the Cross, the believer lived in the time of the Law, it shows their shortcoming, therefore the Law was a reminder of the inadequacies of the believer. As stated, the Law forbids whatever is unholy, and commands nothing but what is holy. So then, how can a person who is inadequate be holy? They cannot. Therefore, holiness or doing that which is right, or righteousness were received from without, never from the individual. Like the illustration of Exodus 12:13 - Numbers 1:46. (603,550) Israelites were delivered from bondage, excluding the woman and children, consequently a million or more were delivered. Their deliverance wasn’t predicated on their holiness, but the shadow of that which was to come; The Cross of Christ. They put their faith in the Cross of Christ through the substitute of the Blood of the Lamb. Thus, it was written as a proclamation of a promise of deliverance to them. “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” The Passing over here spoke of death not befalling the homes that had the Blood of the Lamb on the door post. Even before His Precious Blood was shared, millions believed and were delivered and saved. How much more today can the Christian experience a life of peace? If they believe. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. (Colossians 2:14 KJV) The ordinance that was against us spoken of here, refers to the demand of the Law. Note, the Law is good, but it was against us. Meaning it pointed out that which was wrong with us. So, Christ took it out of the way, nailing it to His Cross. Shall we take it down from His Cross and place it back on ourselves? For thousands of years, Godly men and women living under the time of the Law, they hoped for the time of Christ the Redeemer. As it was written; Abraham saw into the future, the time of Christ and Abraham was glad. The ordinances of the Law that was against us was removed by Christ. Why would the believer today go back under the Law by engaging in the keeping of holy dates or the Leviticus dietary laws? As those who came before us, walked the path of the Law, may we learn from their walk by beholding the destination of the path which is the end of the law, the beginning of Grace. For Christ is the end of the Law. (Romans 10:4) Where the Law ended, Grace began. Walking in Grace, is living by faith, the acknowledging of ones’ condition. Whatsoever it is, Lord, I can’t do it by my will, but I trust you can, on my behalf, may your will be done in me. The Law was the shadow of the substance that was to come. Christ is that Substance, and a substance is better than the shadow. Can a little girl anticipate her father’s return, having beheld his shadow in the doorway, ignore his presence with his arms open to embrace her, but she resorts to his shadow instead of his presence? This is the condition of most believers. Concerning Christ being the end of the Law, Clarke said; Where the law ends, Christ begins. The law ends with representative sacrifices; Christ begins with the real offering. The law is our schoolmaster to lead us to Christ; it cannot save, but it leaves us at His door, where alone salvation is to be found. Christ as an atoning sacrifice for sin, was the grand object of the whole sacrificial code of Moses; His passion and death was the fulfillment of its great object and design. Separate this sacrificial death of Christ from the law, and the Law has no meaning. For the lack of the understanding thereof, concerning this topic; men in their attempt to help themselves and others sincerely or insincerely has caused more harm than the betterment of one another. There are those who revert to the keeping of the Law, Ceremonial Law, in so doing they become a transgressor. (Galatians 2:18) Then there are those who keep the Ceremonial Law, by observing what they eat, what they wear, the feast days and the Sabbath. Is it wrong or is it right? Let the Word of God have the final say. Thus, we read according to Galatians 2:16. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Then do not let anyone judge you in eating, or in drinking, or in part of a feast, or of a new moon, or of Sabbaths, which are a shadow of coming things, but the body is of Christ. Let no one condemn you, delighting in humility and worship of the angels, pushing into things which he has not seen, being puffed up by the mind of his flesh without cause. (Colossians 2:16-18 LITV) The correction of the error is present, but the hardness of the heart will reject in stubbornness. Justifying these are kept for a closer relationship with the Lord. The mind is the liberation of being human. Yet it is the most powerful element of keeping a person bound when he or she intransigently refuse to accept another alternative, to a cause of liberation. On the contrary, a relationship or fellowship with the Lord is not based on the Law, mainly the Ceremonial Law. Relationship is established and kept through God’s covenant. God made His covenant with Abraham some 430 years before the giving of the Law at Sinai. Through this covenant, a relationship was established, and the relationship is kept. Shall we then forsake the Law? Absolutely not, with a willing heart the understanding of the Law will bring the believer closer to the Lord, not away from Him through works of self-righteousness. To further appreciate the given statement above is to understand the three functions of the Law. The three functions of the Law. The revelation of God’s nature (He is just and Holy) To reveal sin To guide the believer into that which is right Expounding on the three functions of the Laws above, which is to say, The Law shows us who God is. The Knowing of God reveals to us how inadequate we are, like a deteriorating pottery vessel brought from the darkness into the light, revealing its flaws and imperfection. One cannot change one’s nature, therefore shall the humble heart cried out... Search me, oh God and know my heart today. Try me, oh precious Saviour, know my thought I pray. See if there would be some wicked, wicked way in me. Cleanse me from every sin and set me free. I thank you Lord for cleansing me from sin. Fulfill your glorious Word, and make me pure within… Fill me with your fire, where I once burn with shame… grant my desire… To magnify Your Name. Lord, take my life and make it wholly Thine, fill my poor heart… with your great love divine. Take all my will, my passion, self and pride. I surrender all to you Lord, from the deep of my heart. I give you myself, my all and all. Lord in me abide. Oh Holy Spirit revival comes from Thee, send a revival, start the work in me. Your Words it declares that You will supply, and meet our every need… for blessing, blessings now oh my Lord I humbly plead.   • Hindrance of discouragement, persistence of Faith

    And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. (Matthew 15:22-28 KJV) The place is Tyre and Sidon, where is now modern-day Lebanon. These two principal cities were on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea during the time of our text. In its history, Tyre was the leading seaport of the world. Tyre witnessed success and conquest by some of the world-renowned power, the Babylonians, the Persians, and Alexander. Yet, with all its historical connections, there remains one account that has, and will withstand the test of time. The account of a woman, a mother of an unflinching faith. A Syrophoenician, a title denoting likely a mixed race, half Phoenicians and half Syrians. A woman, perhaps of a higher affluent class, yet in need of a miracle. Sin and illness regard no class. Thank God, Jesus the Great Physician, His healing has no boundaries. If we reach out to Him, He will reach down to us by grace and love. The Faith of a Canaanite Woman How can we be pulled out from our situation of desperation and despair if we are not willing to acknowledge the mess we are in and the mess we have become? The statement to this lady was the question the Lord asked of Jacob in the Old Testament before blessing him; What is your name? Did He not know the name of Jacob? Of course, He did. The name Jacob means fraud and a deceiver, so by Him asking Jacob what is your name? In essence, Jacob had to acknowledge who he was, a fraud in need of The TRUTH, a deceiver in nature and in need of legitimacy. Back to our texts, these were strong words from the lips of Him who is Love. By the Lord metaphorically comparing the case of this lady with a dog (of that time), this doesn’t mean He did her wrong, nor did He display ill way toward her. Instead, his metaphorical statement was first to show the true striking reality of all of those who are without the God of the Bible, like this lady was. They are not heirs of the blessing from God, neither do they dictate to the source for that which they receive. Like a scavenger without any affirmation of hope, they receive only that which is given. Yet, like Jacob of old, this lady knew her desperate situation and who she was, an outsider. Even in her lowliness she recognized she was in the presence of the Lofty One. Despite what others thought of her. Yet, she acknowledged her dire situation, she reached out in faith to the Master, and His grace reach way down for her, to lift her up in compassion, out of despair and gave her hope and affirmation. If we reach out to the Lord and face the hindrance of discouragement, let us not turn aside, but for this cause, let us desire to draw ever closer to the Lord. The lessons of intercession found in these passages are: An effectual intercession on behalf of others must first be the representation of self, as a transparent vessel wherewith blessing and answer which the individual prayed for may flow through the prayer, unto the one being prayed for. When we seek the Lord on behalf of another, let us know it is for us as well in all sincerity, by willing to surrender our will to the mercy of the Lord. The best illustration is seen through Christ and the Cross. On behalf of us, He Give it His all by surrendering to the will of the Father. For I have come down out of Heaven, not that I should do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me. (John 6:38 LITV) _________________________________ She does not claim to be one of the children, and has no thought of depriving them of their bread. She accepts the position of one of the family dogs. But such animals are members of the household and they get what the children do not want. Without confusing the difference between Jews and heathen, and without depriving the Jews of anything that is theirs, He may grant her request. The metaphor which Christ had used as a reason for rejecting her petition she turns into a reason for granting it. (Stanley D.   • The washing of feet

    Jesus Christ through the Scriptures The books of the Bible, though 66 in numbers they stand as one with the unifying theme, Jesus Christ. His person and His work. For He said, "Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me." The word search, denotes to search anxiously. The idea is having a miner who searches for precious metals while seeking a perfect balance for the value of the metal. Illustratively speaking, in a mining terminology, the stratum of our interest is (John 13:4-5). A stratum is a series of layers of rock in the ground or layers of material arranged one on top of another. In the case of (John 13:4-5), we shall carefully dig out its layers and reveals the value therein. It reads, He (Jesus) rose up from the supper and laid aside His garments. And taking a towel, He girded Himself. Then He put water into the basin and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe off with the towel with which He was girded. (John 13:4-5 LITV) The washing of the feet before a meal or upon the arrival of a traveler, was customary during the time of our text. It was constantly the role of the servant to wash the feet of the guests. Here we have Christ the Saviour, taking on the office of a servant by the washing of the feet of His disciples. The scope of the act of our Lord in washing The feet of His disciples, does carry two implications: the act meekness. He is the Master over His disciples. Yet, He humbled Himself for their sake, He became the servant. Secondly, those who sees and accept the meekness of Christ shall see the glory of Christ as God. God became man through Jesus Christ by putting on flesh and blood (John 1:14) to redeem man from sin. Such is the illustrative lesson of Christ washing the feet of His disciples. (John 13:5) After that, He poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. This was the role of a servant. As God step from the glory of heaven to serve us by being clothed in flesh through Jesus Christ, for the remission of sin. Now, the Lord girded Himself with the towel of a servant to wash His disciples from the filth of a sinful world. The source of the fall of man through sin was the result of pride. Therefore, if pride is to be dealt with, its antidote must be humility. F.B. Meyer once wrote: This is the key to the Incarnation. He (Christ) rose from the throne, laid aside the garments of light which He had worn as His vesture, took up the poor towel of humanity, and wrapped it about His Glorious Person; poured His own Blood into the basin of the Cross, and set Himself to wash away the foul stain of human depravity and guilt. Christ is the only Forgiver of sins. The illustration of the washing of feet portrays His love for humanity to wash away the sins of those who believe.   • The assurance of the Psalm 23

    There are Psalms, and there is the Psalm 23. The inspired Word of God needs no distinction through the exaltation of one over the other. But for the Psalm 23, it is the completion to our lack, the provision to our depletion. It erases our path of wrong and set us on the path of righteousness. A peace in the time of conflict, and struggle. An assurance of victory, before the battle. Though it serves as the most quoted Psalm ever. Yet for the many who have quoted these passages, and the countless who will in the future; unobserved are the names and title of God within the Psalm 23. Of which administers to the reader an insightful discernment and an improved communication with the Lord. One cannot Expound all the wealth of the Psalm 23 in a single presentation, but for this exposition; we shall observe the names and titles of God that are imbedded in the passages below, and the promises therein. Psalm 23:1-6 The LORD is my shepherd; (JEHOVAH- Rohi) I shall not want. (JEHOVAH-Jireh) He makes me to lie down in green pastures: (JEHOVAH Shalom) He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul: (JEHOVAH-Rophe) He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake (JEHOVAH-Tsidkenu). Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.   • The Birth of Christ. Part 1

    The birth of Christ, unlike the birth of all humanity, wherewith life begins at conception, Christ's birth was an advent, meaning before His birth, He existed and was expected throughout the ages. Although He came into this world physically through the event of the nativity. Yet, He came from a preexisting state, on a special mission. The how and why, is incomprehensible to the natural human mind, but the fact is undeniable. He did exist before His birth and yet He was born. (John 8:58) This we called the incarnation; the act of clothing with flesh. The second meaning of the word incarnation should give us an insight into the reason of His birth and the mission thereof. This meaning of the incarnation is of a medical derivative. It is an operation in a surgical procedure. A process of healing wounds and filling the wound part with new flesh. Humanity is the wound in desperation and Christ is that new flesh from Heaven to heal our wounds of damnation. In Him is life, without Him nothing was made that was made (John 1:3), meaning He is the source of life in the universe. This is the mystery of God the Creator that He should take on the form of man through the person of Jesus Christ, in order to save and restore humanity. Since the dawn of time, man has had some understanding of the incarnation, God becoming man. It was through the lineage of Adam, a man by the name of Enoch, who saw this revelation of God, and prophesied the advent of Christ (Jude 1:14). From there onwards, the account had been told and sought after by men from generation to generation, from all walks of life. Twisting the truth and bringing forth legend and myth, throughout many civilizations the legend of the mythical being, the god-man with superior abilities. However, that which they all have in common, is that which Christ distinguishes Himself from the rest. In that their legends portray them as half man and half god, but Christ is fully God and fully man. The image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). Through His birth He entered a new state of existence, that of mankind. In this child, lies the wisdom of God. Being fully man, He shall know our weakness, our failures and our needs. Being fully God, He is our strength when we are weak, our gracious God in times of failure.   • Five Offerings

    A five-part series dealing with the five Offerings of Leviticus. The Burnt Offering The Meal Offering The Peace Offering The Sin Offering The Trespass Offering These things were a shadow of that which was to come, we do not practice them, for they were fulfilled in Christ, of whom they all pointed to in types, symbols and shadows. Thus, He said; search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me. (John 5:39) Therefore, as we search the scriptures concerning the topic of the Five Offerings, let us not view them as a legalistic command that must be enacted to earn God’s grace. Nevertheless, through the revelations therein we shall contract a glimpse of the wonderous acts of God throughout the ages. The first of the five offerings to expound is that of the Burnt Offering. The background of the Burnt Offering and its applications. Unlike the Pagan nations during the time of our text, their so-called offerings and sacrifices were that of humans. An act God strongly forbid, as the Creator, He cherishes life. Onto His chosen people, Israel, He established the sacrificial system through Moses. Perhaps the second most influential person in history, next to Christ. Moses, born a slave, raised a Pharaoh, cast out of society in his prime, wandered for 40 years. Returned as a deliverer of millions against the most powerful nation, without drawing of a sword, or the shooting of an arrow. Established the greatest government system on earth, without partaking of it. Gaves the world the Decalogue. (Ten Commandments) One can attribute the success of recent western civilization to these Ten given rules. Wherever it is observed or acknowledge there is liberty. Whereas, wherever it was once accepted, but rejected; the nation's moral fiber is set on a course for moral deterioration and anarchy. Nevertheless, the study of the text will be the relation between the sacrificial system and Jesus Christ. As well as its relation to us through types and shadows. The sacrificial system was an outward expression of those who partook thereof, precisely Israel, and those who at times joining with them in becoming one with them as a nation and people. Through this system, men were held accountable for their wrongdoing. This gives them an inward desire to restore the broken relationship cause by sin between them and God, and ultimately the broken relationship between humanity, the world and God, which will be mended together by Jesus Christ. Wherever there is sin, there is hurt, death and destruction, physical death or spiritual death. The System of our study served as a temporal measure in dealing with sin, until He who have the power over sin was made manifest, the Lord Jesus. Until then, all things in the sacrificial system pointed to Christ, as a reminder to those who came before us, knowing that someday, greater than the millions of sacrifices will be made manifest. Until then, the sacrificial system was a stopgap measure. (a temporary way of dealing with a problem) The Lord would rather obedience than sacrifice, but due to man’s sinful nature, this was unlikely. Yet a Loving God will not watch the destruction of His people through sin. Therefore, this was the sacrificial system, the exposition of one of five of the offerings. Burnt offering The name derives from the offering being consumed in fire. Also known as a WHOLE burnt offering, symbolizing Christ, who is our ALL. Its Hebrew name is עולה, which comes from the word meaning to ascend. May the believer’s past of failures be burned to ashes never to be remembered. Therewith, let us rise in newness of life. As Christ would be lifted on the Cross and ascend on High, at the right hand of the Father. That whosoever believes in Him shall be seated with Him in Heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), but before we can receive the acceptance of the glory of the Father in Heaven, our Sinful Nature must be dealt with in totality. The requirements of the brunt offering called for a bullock, a sheep or bird, precisely (Pigeon or a dove) One might ask, what about the innocent animals? The innocence of the animals gives more insight to the reason typifying the sacrifice. They were innocent, yet they became a sacrifice. As Christ was Innocent, He became the sacrifice for humanity, for those who will accept. One cannot serve God in part righteousness, while willfully choosing to partially practice certain sin. Instead, all sin, must come under the wrath of a Holy God. So great is the power of sin that humanity cannot undo its destructive effects. It takes a power greater than the power of sin to destroy sin. This power is the wisdom of God that was manifested in Jesus Christ, who became the Sacrifice in the place of fallen humanity. At the Cross the Lord Jesus took the penalty for ALL sin, past, present and future (1 Peter 3:18... Romans 6:10...Hebrews 9:28) He died to sin once, but greater is the power of God, though He died to sin once. Yet, He lives forever. Having taken ALL the penalties of sin, like the burnt offering that was completely burned on the altar, likewise, Christ completely gives Himself for us by completely destroying the power of sin. Through this, we are accepted by God. Hence, the Burnt Offering was an offering of acceptance. The offerer brought the animal to the altar. The altar typifies the Cross of Christ, it is at the Cross sin where must be dealt with, and there sin was destroyed. (1 Peter 2:24) One cannot overcome sin through willpower, fasting or the likes. The animal was presented by the offerer to the priest. (the priest, a type of Christ) The focus of the priest was the sacrifice, not the one offering the sacrifice. Therefore, let us come to Christ, just as we are. The offerer laid his hand on the sacrifice wherewith it was slew on the North side of the altar. Heaven is to the North, (Isaiah 14:13; Psalms 48:2) our help comes from above. The laying of the hand of the offerer on the sacrifice, portrays that we in ourselves cannot overcome sin, it must be transferred by the removing thereof. Through this, the sin of the sinner was passed on to an innocent undefiled animal (Leviticus 1:4). Like Christ, who knew no sin, He took on the sin of many that we might be made the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21) The animals that became the innocent sacrifice, typify Christ, His person and His sufferings for our atonement. Three types of animals were acceptable, a bullock, a sheep a young pigeon or dove. Although the animals mentioned here are diverse in their representation and class. However, they all had one thing in common. Their perfection, meaning they had to be perfect. It typified Christ, the representation of His perfection. They too had to be without blemish. If a bullock or a sheep, it had to be a male with without blemish, and the most perfect of its kind (Leviticus 1:3). In their diversities, we however, see God's wisdom of unity in reaching out to all mankind, rich or poor, through Jesus Christ, who is the same unto all men. A turtle-dove unto the poor as well as a lamb unto the rich. For those who couldn’t afford a bullock or a lamb. They had a choice between a young pigeon, or a dove. The animals in their representation of Christ Though we are diverse in our status, but we all face the same problem, the problem of sin. Moreover, there is only one solution for sin, Jesus Christ and Him crucified. All the offerings in some ways typified Christ and His work. Like the Burnt offering, the altar on which the animals were sacrificed and burned typified the Cross on which Jesus died. Whereas the types of the animals typified the person of Christ and His work. The bullock typified Christ in His power. Yet, He became weak unto death; that we may receive His victorious power over sin. The sheep typified Christ in submission to the will of the Father that we may be shielded from the wages of sin which is death. The dove typified the Spirit of God upon Christ. Whereas both birds were the image of the gentle, and the harmless nature of Christ. The death of the animals on the altar, and the death of Christ on the Cross for the remission of sin. As the sacrifice represented Christ in His fullness, their deaths on the altar typified the judgment and death we all once faced and the death in which Christ suffered for us that we may live. Recorded in Leviticus 1:5, the animal was killed before the Lord, typifying all transgressions of sin is exposed before God. Exposed that it may be atoned by the blood of Christ. Or in the refusal of His precious shed blood, judgment shall befall the transgressor. The death of the animal wasn’t hidden, typifying Christ's death was visible to all, as His victory is self-evidence. Its unblemished skin was flayed from its body and its body being cut into pieces. Or the head of the bird wring off, and the plucking away of its feathers. This typified of Christ giving us His robe of righteousness while taking our bare shame of sins and the penalties thereof. As He hung on the Cross, stripped and smitten, with His hands stretched, bound and nailed to the cross-beam. The tissues in His body experienced tremendous pain and attempt to adjust naturally from the unprecedented forceful pulling of the muscles, veins and tissues, but to no avail causing the flow of air to His lungs to decrease. Agony and slow breathing soon turn into dizziness, but without a quench, the body experiences waves of cramps, with each wave being painful than the previous. As the muscles pull back for a relief. The body of our blessed Lord was shredded in pieces from within as the animal was cut in pieces on the altar, so was His body. The cross-beam, called the patibulum, or the horizontal part of the Cross was then lifted up and connected to the vertical beam that was planted in the earth, known as the stripe. This caused another shock wave of pain throughout His body. Therewith, His feet were connected to the stripe, the vertical beam, as a long nail was driven through the flesh and bones and into the vertical beam causing Him to be fastened by bruises and pain. With the four wounds to His body. His both hands and feet. The number four is the symbol of universality. Typifying Christ bore the pain and penalty of sin for all, north south east and west. The blacks, the whites and in-between. Out of those four bruises came grace, as His side was pierced, came forth water mixed with blood. And all the many other bruises He bore, He bored for the many who will receive Him as Lord. Continuation of the typification, the entrails of the animal was not exempted from the burning on the altar nor was its outward body parts exempted. This typified Christ's death atoned for men as a whole, body and soul. One cannot serve God only outwardly while holding back spiritually. Nor should a believer attest to serving the Lord spiritually while struggling outwardly in the members of his or her body. Such was seen in the burning of the flesh on the altar. The animal as a whole having been cut in pieces was burnt on the altar. Except for its skin, which was removed as previously mentioned. Foreshadowing of what Christ would do on the Cross. Although, He became a sin sacrifice for us. It did not change His perfect image. Hence, the unblemished skin or covering of the animal was removed before it bore the penalty of the transgressor. The burning on the altar and the sharing of its blood was a foreshadow of the precious Blood of Christ, the extinguisher of man's transgression. The shield against the destructive power of sin and the cure for man’s brokenness and the mending of sinful fallen man's fellowship with God. One might ask, why blood of all things? The answer can thus be summed up, blood is the substance of life, or the life is in the blood. At the dawn of man, sin corrupted the life of man. So then, how can the corrupt blood of an ill patient treat that patient and restore health to the body? It cannot, it takes an outside source. In the case of fallen men, a powerful source that is immured to the corruption of sin and greater than the destructive power of sin. The Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Do we physically obtain His blood? Certainly not, but this we know, man is a Spirit being housed in a physical body. Our motives, feelings, emotions and thoughts are not the works of our physical body. These things are from within our body, which are unseen, but they give maneuverability and life to the physical body. So, the receiving of Christ’s Blood for purification, is done by faith. For faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. As the animal blood was sprinkled for covering against sin and its body burned on the altar, typifying the destruction of sin. So was Christ on the Cross, as He hung, enduring pain and suffered the sin of the world. The intense tension to His body, the decrease of air flow to His lungs and the stretching and pulling of every fiber of His being without retracting, would cause a great shock and extreme heat to the body. Hence, one of our Lord's saying on the Cross was, I thirst. As recorded in John 19:28. Physically He thirst. Whereas, spiritually doing such burdensome time, yet He thirst to fulfill the will of the Father. The Father hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21) The gruesomeness of the burnt offering and the Blood of the Cross of Christ, it's not merely to present a bloody sacrifice, but rather, it shows how awful and damnable sin is, and the measure in which it must be dealt with. The offering pointed to the Cross of Christ. It grieves the heart of the sinner turn saint to see the blessed Lord, who knew no sin, yet He took on the sin of the world. A world that was made by Him, but its people for the most part knew Him not. Yet, He made the first proposal to die for the world. Yet, He lives that those whosoever believes in Him might live in newness of life. The Cross of Christ is a sad reminder of the destructive power of sin. However, a greater power is the victory won over sin. Such victory is not of sorrow, nor defeat, but of a glorious triumphant from the very throne of Heaven to all the four corners, width and depth of the Earth. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Seeing the Lord Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God typifying our burnt offering, should surely bring joy to our hearts. He came down to do the will of God, taking on the form of man, heaven rejoiced and sung songs of praises. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Surely the glory was in His death, in that He died to destroy sin. Yet He ever lives as a testament of His victory He won for us. For He said, I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father (John 10:17-18). I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death (Revelation 1:18). Wherefore sons and daughters of God, rejoice in the Lord forever more. Neither forget the price that was paid for our victory. BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD, WHICH TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD!   • Judging

    The phrase judge not, should not be mistaken with the act of correction by discernment. To judge not, is in essence saying do not judge down upon an individual whereby lifting oneself above. However, to judge is not forbidden if it is to discern by pointing out an error, or discern in order to prevent a problem. The words of Christ to us are, judge not, and you may not be judged. However, did not the apostle Paul withstood the apostle Peter? By judging his motive, the apostle Paul pointed out the wrongdoing of the apostle Peter. In so doing a rift was prevented within the early Church. Both men eventually came into one understanding. So then, was this a contradiction? Absolutely not. In order to understand the scriptures, there is one rule which ought to be the guideline, that is, the Word of God (the Bible) is without any contradiction. Therefore, the presumption of contradictions in the Scriptures, is the case of a misinterpretation. Misinterpretation is the absence of understanding. To understand is to learn and be informed. One cannot understand unless there is a distinction between the truth from falsehood. The distinction between the truth from false is the act of judging. Therefore, one cannot exist without judging, but he who judges, let him judge to correct. Though it be unpleasant to the one being judged, but it shall be for a gain in the end. Can a parent spare the feelings of a child by the refusal of the judging of the child's wrong doing because of love? Or shall an officer of the law, not judge the following of a lady by men on a back-street? A nation or people who no longer judge are people without discernment, one without discernment cannot make up one's mind. Therefore, they become prey to delusion and control.   • The attempts of sin

    One of the attempts of sin is to prevent the believer who has sinned from worshiping the Lord by dangling the guilt as a distraction in the sight of the believer. Wherewith, preventing progression. The reflection of sin is guilt and condemnation, but let us look to Jesus, Who is without sin, that His perfect image may reflect on us. By knowing His perfection, we shall behold His mercy. Through this we are justified and appear innocent before God. Not to condone the sin of the believer, but that the believer might perceive the goodness of God, despite his or her failures, the grace of God is ever present. So then, if He loves us even when we sin. Let us love Him and follow after Him, even when we stumble. Let us confess our sin and praise Him by faith. Praise in times of despair is not predicated on how we feel, but what we know. For He said, I will never leave you nor forsake you, even unto the end of the Earth. (This we know) Now on to the illustration of this message. If a shepherd sheep wanders and plunges into the ditch of mud. The good Shepherd, although seeing His sheep in a ditch covered in mud and filth. Yet, in the mind of that good Shepherd, He does not see the current filth. All He cares about is restoring His sheep to its rightful state, when all the filth is clean and His sheep is pure by His side. However, the process in which it occurs, from the ditch to purity, it takes time, but the good Shepherd is faithful. He shall save, separate and restore His sheep. Likewise, Christ is our good Shepherd and we are His sheep, though we find ourselves in the ditch and filth of sins. Yet, He doesn't see the sin, but in His mind, His desire is to help us. Save us from the filth of sins, separate us from the elements of sin, and restore us by His side. If we sin and call upon Him, instantly we are justified and consider clean in the mind of God. However, the time span from the ditch and onto the side of our Lord, it is not instant. Nevertheless, it is a process in which, though we fail at times, but let us desire His righteousness more, but without ignoring the wrongdoing of sin. However, we do not dwell on sin. Instead, we sincerely hope to be restored and learn from such a mistake. Through repentance, which means to turn away from . . . Although anyone can turn away from sin for a while, but he who turns away from sin, but doesn’t have a focus to look upon, he or she will again turn to sin because they do not have a focus point to look to. The power of sin is great. Therefore, one needs a greater point of focus. That greater point of focus is the Cross of Christ. It was at the Cross, Christ defeated the power of sin (Colossians 2:14). Therefore, like a beacon in the dark. Let us look to the Cross that we may see the light of God and to be drawn from the darkness of sin, into the pure light of God Almighty. The distance wherewith we travel is long. We shall fall and stumble at times, but let us keep moving forward by looking into the light which is the Cross. Knowing it was there sin was defeated. Likewise, it is where we ought to be, and by His grace, His eyes are upon us. So then, let our desire be one with Him.
