- The Healing Harmony of the Psalms: A Beacon in Life’s Storms
Have you ever felt like the weight of the world is on your shoulders? Have you ever been in a situation where it seems like all of life’s waves and billows are crashing over you? Do you ever feel like you’re drowning in your problems, uncertainties, and unspoken hurts? In these moments, it’s important to remember the words of Psalms 42:7-8 ‘Deep calls unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. Yet the LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.’ Though written poetically, these verses carry profound truths. Together, we will dive into each verse and phrase expositorily, drawing lessons from the Psalms for life and living today. Let’s embark on this journey of discovery and healing, finding comfort and strength in the timeless wisdom of the Scriptures. Deep calls unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts. This phrase reflects the severity of the trials we sometimes undergo. It can feel as if the whole world is against us, with all of life’s challenges converging on our weary souls. All thy waves and thy billows have gone over me. Do we, at times, feel that even when we proverbially look up, all we see are our many uncertainties and problems, intertwined with unspoken hurt? Mental pain often leads to the physical deterioration of the body. Though the individual remains in the world of the living, their deeds, or lack thereof, portray the opposite. In such cases, feelings are numb, and interactions are merely motions without any sincere connection. However, this is where things begin to change. Remember, most wounds only heal when the discomfort intensifies, a process that is out of our control. This we read: Yet the LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime. Many of the problems we face in life stem from the absence of love. Individuals often try to find this missing love or fill its void, but when they go about it the wrong way, it results in more problems than initially anticipated. Moreover, there exist individuals whose consciousness is devoid of love. Their intentions, tainted by this absence, lead them to cause harm to others. The manifestation of their intent, whether through physical actions or verbal exchanges, inflicts damage and distress upon those around them. Nevertheless, the preceding phrase begins with the conjunction ‘Yet.’ That is to say, in spite of all that has happened, the Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime. Note, it is the Lord who commands His lovingkindness toward you. If you could have, you wouldn’t be in the situation you are in to begin with. Too often, we try on our own so that all may see our efforts and work, but our pillow remains our only friend, holding the countless secrets through the tears shed upon it. Now, it is time to let go and allow the Lord to command His lovingkindness upon you, for a change. One might question, ‘Considering God is all-powerful, why hasn’t He changed my situation already?’ Yes, God is indeed all-powerful, but God is also love, and true love never imposes itself, regardless of its power. Love must be accepted for it to be established. Therefore, when we surrender our will, the Lord steps in to transform what seems to be an unchangeable circumstance. At times, even though we experience the light of the day outwardly, within our hearts remains the darkness of anxiety and uncertainties. Yet, the LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime. No matter how difficult or challenging it may seem, there is always a hidden blessing or a positive aspect that can provide comfort, even if you are not yet aware of it. The Lord’s lovingkindness will serve as a belt and an anchor in your rough sea. As a belt, it will keep you composed, and as an anchor, it will keep you steady during the storm of life. So then, let us not fall for the same old mistakes, wrapping ourselves in the belts of our own making. Overworking to drown our sorrows, in the process, we slowly drown ourselves. Without a sure anchor, an individual is tossed back and forth by every change and occurrence around them. Impatient reactions without an anchor can lead to regrettable results. Yet, the LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime. Next, we read, ‘In the night His song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.’ Observe the phrase, ‘His song shall be with me.’ A song often speaks of praise. However, many individuals find themselves without any praise on their lips, not because they have an ungrateful heart, but because the music and songs they listen to trap their minds in a state from which they cannot escape. They listen to these songs that anchor them to the past, causing their presence to become obsolete and weary. So, what are you listening to? Many individuals are broken, and they listen to songs of brokenness, waking up the next day even more broken. Interestingly enough, they return to the same songs and more, echoing brokenness and pain. Many of the songs of the world (not all, but many) are not with you, nor do the singers know you or care about you. These songs are designed to lure you to a place that you cannot return to. But as the phrase reads, ‘His song (The song of the Lord) shall be with me.’ While certain songs are designed to draw you back to places of painful memories, the songs of the Lord, on the other hand, will accompany you in every situation. As a result, you will begin to have praise on your lips, seeing more of God and less of your problems. The right gospel song can become a prayer in your heart, forming an intimate bond between you and the God of your life. Even at times when you don’t know what to say or how to pray, let the lyrics of the many inspired songs speak through you. This allows you to connect with God rather than dwelling on your problems and your past. As you rest upon your pillow at night, these words plant seeds of change and hope for a new day. This sentiment is beautifully expressed in the lyrics of Helen Howarth Lemmel’s hymn. O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free! Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.
- Understanding the times that you may endure beyond the present for a glorious future.
Understanding History, Faith, and Current Events: A Comparative Analysis Embracing Divine Direction: A Journey of Faith and Sacrifice Regardless of where we find ourselves in life, whether it’s in the broader context of the community or the land we inhabit, or on a more personal level within the family we belong to. As believers, we gratefully desire and long for the divine directional path from the Lord. And rightly so, one ought to. Like it was with Abraham, the father of our faith. This we read; Now the LORD had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee. Genesis 12:1 No matter how much sacrifice is required for the changes that lie ahead. If knowing it is the will of the Lord, there is a definite willingness to act and to adhere to such a call. Abraham and Sarah: Lessons from the Past and Understanding Our Times Such was Abraham and Sarah, then. The representation of a male and a female. Therefore, the lesson is for all, today. As we admire their action then, for a lesson to us now, let us also learn to understand the times that we may endure beyond the present for a glorious future. The account of Abraham and Sarah yielding to the call of God through their action to ahead to His call, is recorded in the 12 chapter of Genesis. However, before the call, there were things happening in the land and in the hearts of men. This we read in the preceding chapter of Genesis. Chapter 11. Failure to keep God’s covenant. Therefore, mankind erects their Tower of Babel. Though they reside under the heavens that God created, but they seek their own name and a fame upon the earth, without God in Heaven as their focus. Through this, confusion enveloped the land. As it was once said; “To exalt man without God in Christ is to elevate him to a dizzy height from which he is sure to fall into hopelessness.” Western Progress and Divine Covenant: A Reflection on Nimrod’s Legacy Such it is today, speaking from the Western perspective. For the past 400 years, the Western nations, through the British empire and other European countries and then the United States has been instrumental for a change for the positive, worldwide. But through the span of time, these nations have failed to keep God’s covenant of which they were built upon in the beginning. They have attempted to replace God through the glorification of self. They erect their own Tower of Babel, where men labor without any rest by the decreed and mandates of a few as it was with Nimrod of old. Now, in this day and age, confusion is everywhere. Concerning Nimrod, at his initial start, it seems he did that which was right. But often times, with great success comes failure, for the maintaining of the right way, without the Lord as the focus. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. Genesis 10:9 That is to say, by the LORD's help he (Nimrod) was a great hunter. Even so, there was a common saying back then. "May the LORD make you as great a hunter as Nimrod." Considering he was a mighty hunter. We can conclude he did that which was right, at the beginning. For at this point in history, the risk of a person being killed by wild creatures was higher than illness, or of age. Humanity was on a stage of repopulating, after the Noamic covenant. And so were the animals, it was after the flood the animosity and the friction between man and beast intensify. Most of these creatures were no longer herbivores – plant eaters. So, they became flesh eaters. One of the reasons for this sudden change was for the lack of vegetation, or the gradual regrowth of plant life which was destroyed or marred in the flood. From Nimrod to Modern Times: The Consequences of Power and Abandoning Divine Covenant Winged creatures were at liberty to see beyond their location for a better place. Consequently, they remained herbivores and at times omnivores. But for the larger creatures which did not travel as far as a winged creature, with the rapid birth rate of mankind, humans were not off their diet choice. So, one can see and reasoned, why Nimrod was considered a mighty man before the Lord. Hunting wild creatures meant saving lives and preserving humanity and the control of food distribution through the game of the animals hunted. With this, came fame and many followers of Nimrod, young men who learned the deeds and the skills of hunting, Therein, he became a leader. But soon, their hunting wasn’t limited to animals, but the eliminating of competition through the opposition from other humans. Without The Lord, man in his wrongdoing will find a means to justify their action. Failure to keep God’s covenant, they erected their Tower of Babel as a place of knowledge and so-called progress. Instead of acknowledging the Creator, they worship the creation. Stars and planetary worship. Such it is today, some of the few who control the public, they did not initially start doing the wrong thing. But with power came corruption, the denial of God and the control of the masses. Enduring Faith: From Abraham and Sarah to Our Times Let us be aware of such times, not as a deterrence to our faith, but that we may be counted worthy as an Abraham and a Sarah of our times. For it was succeeding a time of rebellion, ungodliness, selfishness, danger, and confusion that Abraham and Sarah receive a call for a new beginning. That they may see greatness beyond the current circumstance. From their faithful act, by seeing beyond the world they were a part of and their circumstances, the result was the birth of Isaac – their son. The name Isaac implies laughter. Today, at times, when we look at our surroundings, and the circumstances, hope seems laughable and out of reach. So was Sarah, having heard the words of the Lord that she would become a mother, she laughed at such an idea. The possibility seems out of reach. Yet, through the passage of time, Isaac was born, and they did laugh again, but this time it wasn’t the laugh of doubt, but of joy and a new beginning. Today, where we are is because of the act of faith from our forefathers leaving where they were, to where we are now. And within us all, is our Isaac, but let us understand the times that we may learn to endure beyond the present for a glorious future. The LORD had appeared to Isaac and had said," . . . stay in this land, where I tell you to stay. Live here, and I will be with you and bless you. I am going to give all this territory to you and to your descendants. I will keep the promise I made to your father Abraham. I will give you as many descendants as there are stars in the sky, and I will give them all this territory. All the nations will ask me to bless them as I have blessed your descendants. I will bless you, because Abraham obeyed me and kept all my laws and commands." Genesis 26:2-5 Key points These reflections provide a thoughtful perspective on faith, history, and current events. They remind us of the importance of understanding our times, learning from the past, and seeking divine guidance for the future. Understanding History, Faith, and Current Events: It’s important to comprehend our present circumstances in the context of history and faith. This understanding can guide us towards a better future. Divine Direction: As believers, we seek guidance from the Lord, much like Abraham who followed God’s call to leave his country and kindred (Genesis 12:1). Willingness to Sacrifice: If we know it’s God’s will, we should be ready to make necessary sacrifices and changes, just like Abraham and Sarah. Learning from the Past: The story of Abraham and Sarah serves as a lesson for us today, encouraging us to endure present challenges for a glorious future. Failure to Keep God’s Covenant: The Tower of Babel represents mankind’s attempt to make a name for themselves without God, leading to confusion and chaos. Western Perspective: Western nations have brought about positive change worldwide over the past 400 years. However, they have failed to keep the covenant they were built upon, replacing God with self-glorification. Nimrod the Hunter: Nimrod was a mighty hunter with the Lord’s help (Genesis 10:9). His story reminds us that success can lead to failure if we lose focus on the Lord. Post-Flood Changes: After the flood, the relationship between humans and animals changed, with many animals becoming carnivorous due to a lack of vegetation. Nimrod’s Rise to Power: Nimrod, a mighty hunter, gained fame and followers, eventually becoming a leader. However, his leadership led to competition and conflict among humans. The Tower of Babel: In their failure to keep God’s covenant, mankind built the Tower of Babel as a symbol of knowledge and progress, worshipping creation instead of the Creator. Power and Corruption: Those who control society today didn’t necessarily start with ill intentions. However, power often leads to corruption, denial of God, and control over the masses. Abraham and Sarah’s New Beginning: Despite living in a time of rebellion, ungodliness, selfishness, danger, and confusion, Abraham and Sarah received a call from God for a new beginning. Their faith led to the birth of Isaac, symbolizing hope and a new start. Isaac, Laughter, and Hope: The name Isaac implies laughter. Despite initial doubt, the birth of Isaac brought joy and a new beginning. This teaches us that even when hope seems laughable and out of reach, we can still look forward to a glorious future. God’s Promise to Isaac: God appeared to Isaac and promised to bless him and his descendants, giving them all the territory and keeping the promise He made to Abraham (Genesis 26:2-5). These reflections provide a deeper understanding of biblical stories and their relevance to our current times. They remind us of the importance of faith, hope, and understanding the times we live in.
- Beyond the Blueprint: Where Action Paints the Canvas. Contrasting Plan and Action
While plans offer a starting point (the blueprint), the true journey is shaped by our actions (painting the canvas). Life is a journey, often guided by the plans we make. These plans, like a sketch on a canvas, provide an initial structure for our path. However, it's important to remember that while plans offer a roadmap, it's our actions, not the rigid outlines themselves, that ultimately shape our journey. Jotting plans in journals feels tangible, a comfort in the visible. Yet, the truest growth lies in embracing the unseen – the realm of faith and action. We may not see the final outcome, but with belief as our compass and a sprinkle of faith in the unknown, we can take the first step, and the next, and the next. Instead of letting our plans rigidly dictate our every move, let the journey of taking action fueled by faith be the ultimate outcome. While meticulously crafting plans within the confines of journals and calendars holds a certain comfort in tangibility, it's the act of embracing the unknown, the unseen, that signifies true faith. It's believing in something we cannot yet grasp and acting upon that belief, even when faced with uncertainty, that defines our journey. The question ultimately lies not in simply following plans or passively accepting predetermined outcomes, but in recognizing that a plan is merely a roadmap, a projection of our intended actions. Take the wealthy individual who acquires land. The plan they meticulously craft serves as a blueprint, not a dictator. It reflects their vision, but it doesn't diminish their individuality or agency. The plan facilitates the action, the building of the home, not the other way around. Similarly, while planning provides structure and direction, it shouldn't become an anchor that weighs us down. The need to tick every box on a pre-defined list shouldn't overshadow the joy of spontaneous action guided by faith and unexpected turns. As the scripture in Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." This principle applies to our journey as well. We may not see the final outcome, but with faith, we can take action and navigate the uncertainties with confidence. Furthermore, James 1:5 reminds us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." When faced with unforeseen circumstances on our journey, we can seek wisdom and guidance from God through prayer. Therefore, the answer is not to abandon planning altogether but to strike a balance. Let your plans serve as a guiding star, not a prison, and allow your actions, fueled by faith, to be the driving force, painting the canvas of your life with the vibrant colors of experience. #beyondtheplan #embracingtheunknown #faithoverfear
- Navigating the Paradox of Focus and Distraction in Modern Society.
Laser Focus vs. Torch Chaos: Finding Your Path in a Flickering World Unleash the Laser Within: Breaking Free from the Swaying Torch Mob Often, the words “distraction” or “distracted” bring to mind an individual who is unable to concentrate. This presumption is accurate. However, those who are distracted do not have vacant minds. For a person to be distracted, there must be a focus that the mind is transfixed upon. Distraction is more than just a vacant mind. When attention is drawn to something to the extent that other things are not seen, this is a distraction. So, are we all distracted even when we are focused? If you are focused, you must first distract yourself from other things. Your attention is geared towards one thing, while not seeing the other. However, there is a difference between a person being focused and a person being distracted. Consider a laser beam and a burning torch. Both are sources of light. However, a laser beam is narrow in its approach. It goes in a straight, unwavering direction and does not deviate from its path. Wherever it is pointed, it stays on its destination. It does not draw attention to its surroundings; it remains stable in its engagement. On the other hand, a burning torch attempts to illuminate everywhere at once, but without a steady impact. If we were to liken these two examples, the laser and the torch, to focus and distraction, it is clear that one is focused, and the other is distracted. This is evident in the two types of people in society. There are those who try to see everything at once, and as a result, they do not see clearly at all. Without a precise destination, they become constantly distracted by everything in the partial light of a torch. Their minds are not vacant, but they are filled with mere shadows, representations of substance, but intangible. Their torches are like their state of mind, casting more shadows than illuminating their paths. In this case, their perception of society. As a result, they are fully distracted, swaying from one fad to another, day by day. Meanwhile, a laser beam does not draw attention to the scene, unlike the torch. It stays focused, and undistracted. Such are the individuals in society who do not conform to the constant changes of society every other day. Even though they do not reject change, but what is change if it doesn’t transform the individual calling for the change, but only serves as an imposed burden on others? Therefore, true focus does not waver in its course; it remains fixed. Many years ago, a man and a woman, different in their appearance, outwardly and biologically from within, came into a union through their bond. The end result was me. Through the progression of time, the woman I perceive as my mother, and the man as my father. Countless others have experienced the same. Even you, this is the truth. Truth is available, but it seeks no man or woman. Instead, the man or woman must find the truth, and then the truth will become one with the individual, while maintaining their individuality. On the contrary, the opposite of truth does not abide in individualism. Instead, it is fueled by collectivism. Like a burning torch, its effects are seen everywhere, drawing the masses to a degree of light which consists of more shades and shadows than actual light. As its light flickers and dances, so do those in the crowd of its shadows through their stands and points of view. They are ever-changing and ever-flickering. Where there is a shade and a shadow, a substance could be present, yet its true definition remains undefined. And today, the definition of who we are as a society remains undefined for the most part. It is cast in shadows and shades. Consequently, the wheel on which society ought to run, through the representation of the man and the woman, is coming to a halt. It can no longer be defined by the large crowd holding the torch. Is this a snare and a passed of judgment upon certain groups? Belittling one against the other, the crowd with the burning torch and the individuals with the laser beam? Judgment is passed only by He Who is perfect, and neither the individual with the laser perspective, nor the crowd with the flickering torch and flickering emotions, has perfection. Nevertheless, within all is the ability to reflect, compare, and reason. The crowd with their torch is likely to accuse the one with the laser beam as narrow-minded, reflecting the path of the laser. However, walking a narrow path doesn’t mean having a narrow mind. One only changes their mind constantly if they are uncertain of their path, but like a laser, it is sure of its point of destination. So, the need for a change is needless. On the other hand, how often has the crowd with the torch changed their perspective? One day they cannot define what a woman is, for their perception is that there is no difference between a man and a woman. But on another day, the same proclaims the woman’s choice to her body. If she has a choice to her body as a woman, then she is a woman. If the mind tried to see all at once, it would see nothing at all. Therein, the moral compass is no longer from an inner conscience, but a collective directive. How do you know which you are? The laser holder or the torch gatherer? If you read this and you are shaking with anger and you are bothered, you’ve validated the point of this narrative. You are distracted. And your next step will be to slander the source or unfollow its origin. If you were focused and not distracted, you wouldn’t be bothered. Like a laser, you would have stayed on your path, but without a focus point, one is easily distracted and swayed by society, and made uncomfortable by a narrative. Our actions are our choice, but let not the result of your choice be a burden to others. The Battle Of Equality Is The Absence Of Love Modern ideology declares, equality is the goal, but it must be achieved through the competition between the man and the woman; the greatness of the woman is not when she competes to be like the man. She is great when she is herself. Their greatness isn’t achieved through competition, but unity becomes harmony through the understanding of a structure. The man doesn’t protect the woman because she is weak, but when we cherish another, we are willing to defend that which we love. Nor does the woman seek her safety in his bosom because he is superior, but recognizing her importance, she ascertains he must earn it through his willing dedication to her. The husband and wife who live in faith by trusting in the Lord, the two become one. On the contrary, competition is enacted to validate the acceptance of the one competing. If love doesn’t validate the acceptability between a man and a woman as husband and wife, competing will never suffice, nor satisfy the harmony of love between the husband and the wife.
- 'Tis Was The Day Before Christmas
In the heart of a winter wonderland, families and neighbors gather in the fold. At the center of their assembly is an open fire, unquenched by the snow. Like the joy in their hearts for the Christmas, so is the fire which does not falter. It burns unwavering with its bright amber glow. Casting its warmth and reflecting on the faces of them all, their sizes and colors vary as they glow. The elders, the children, and those in-between, all under God’s beautiful sky from above. The sky, with its sailing puffy clouds, drifting like a soft blanket being rolled out by the thoughtful hands of a caring heart. Amidst the four homes stand the four Christmas trees. Tall and beautiful, they bloom. Their evergreen neither fades nor withers with time, much like Christ the Savior, born on the day they all so cherish. These four evergreen trees symbolize a message of universal hope, reaching across all boundaries, from the North to the South, and from the East to the West. So too is the joy of Christmas felt everywhere. In a heartfelt expression of gratitude, they all unite, their joyous spirits knitting together in a tapestry of warmth and love amidst the snow. The innocent laughter of the children, pure and melodious, weaves through the air, blending seamlessly with the rich intoxicating scents of Christmas. The earthy aroma of chestnuts, roasting on an open fire, wafts through the crisp winter air. Tantalizing the senses with caramelized sweet delight. The fire, the heart of their gathering, crackles with life. Each ember bursts with a vibrant palette of oranges and reds, casting a lively glow that dances upon their faces. The flames leap and twirl, performing a mesmerizing ballet, their shadows pirouetting on the surroundings. The fire’s crackling symphony, a rhythmic sizzle, and pop, resonates through the open air. It’s a harmonious melody, a primal song of heat and light that mingles with the chorus of their voices. This symphony of sound, the fire’s crackling tune intertwined with their laughter and conversation, creates a musical harmony that is the very essence of their Christmas gathering. It’s a moment suspended in time, a memory painted with the vivid hues of love, warmth, and shared joy. In the midst of the beautiful ambience, is Frosty, with its welcoming arms spread open wide. Surrounded by young minds exploring the wonders of the season and the joy of it all. As the day unfolds, they all gather, in love and grace. The grandparents sharing the joy of their grandbabies, as they instilled the essence of life and living. The mothers, the unsung heroes, linger in joyful silence, their hearts swelling with pride and compassion. The fathers, like a silent pillar of strength, ever-attending to their duties, stand tall. As the angels once sang of Christ's birth on a holy night, in Bethlehem, many years ago. Now, the children of today mimic those majestic beings. Lying on their backs, they look to the heavens and create snow angels in their humble understanding. The cherished toys of days-gone are tenderly set aside, their familiar forms resting in the bed of sinking snow. With the dawn of Christmas looming, comes the promise of new gifts, waiting to be unwrapped on the joyous morn they all so cherish. From the smallest of God’s creation, even so they all gather in love and grace. The squirrel in its hop, stands to observe and basks in the glow of the burning coal. The little chickadee birds gather together savoring the aroma and the delights for the preparation of the long winter nights. Actively remains the great red northern cardinal birds, adding a splash of vibrant color to the pure white scene of Christmas joy. Marshmallows are shared and indulged, their fluffiness mirroring the drifting clouds above. As they melt down the savory path of taste buds, happy expressions light up the faces of them all. The cakes and their layers of sweets are seen, reflecting the hearts of the gathering with layers of joy. The chocolate, a rich tapestry of deep mahogany. And the cream, pure and pristine as freshly fallen snow. They are united, harmonious blend of flavors and personalities, each adding their own essence to the mix, as they blessed the Father God heart from above. The glow of the lights within the homes reflects the joy shared without. The trees in the distance are bare, stripped of their rich green canopy for the coming of winter. Though their leaves are gone, the trees remind us that true riches not only lie in what we see, but in the heart that is anchored in the right place. True riches are not always those things that are visible. The heart is the source of true wealth, provided it is firmly grounded in the right place. Like these bare trees of winter, their roots remain deep and sure below, a guarantee for life and living. The pups attentively admire their human companions, as the companions gloried in the ambience of Christmas joy. The fawn wanders in the midst of this all, soon realizing it is welcomed into the fold. As the reindeers of legend roam freely to and fro, the mailman appears with his arms full. Embodying the joy of the giving on Christmas, as Christ once gave Himself for all, so long ago. The grandmothers, the mothers of the mothers, with smiles shared their tales of wit, as the young listened with joy, as they are amazed. Different they all are in their genes, but wonderfully made by God in His love. As their flag proudly waved, its voice softly whispered in the cool of the breeze; “Together, with our red blood, we are one, in the image of God. In the purity of the white stripes of our souls, may our deeds be as a dove, flying like the multitude of white shining stars in the vast blue of the sky and beyond.” Through the coming together of a family, like Mary and Joseph did so long ago in that humble manger. Today, we remember the humble scene of the nativity where Christ the Savior was born. The inspired writers of old penned these sacred narratives. And today, an artist with humble skills brings the blessed joy of the tales of Christmas, to all. ‘Tis was the day before Christmas by PSW Also check the Shot Story page for updated contents
- The realization of A Walking New Man
Perhaps, the one word that influences existing is happiness. Within this word are the establishments of many decisions and choices we make. Our success and failures, these are all somewhat the root of the awareness to be happy. A baby, when in discomfort cries for a change from one stage to another, to be happy. A young adult will apply his or her self now, for a better future for tomorrow. The elderly seek a better retirement than the commencement of adulthood. The illustration portrays three different time frames with diverse individualities. But the similarity is, everyone at one-point desires a change, but isn’t willing to accept the transition period of the change. From the declaration of a change to the possession of the change. It is during this time we discover who we are, or others will relate the abrupt ending of the story concerning those who quit. The discovery of who I am is the realization of what I’ve learned. This is not predicated on what I have, rather what I am willing to learn. What I have learned thus far, is the narrative of a walking new man. Walking is progressing while learning to forget those things of the past, by accepting the new changes along the way. As an artist, since I can remember, art has always been a part of my life. Nevertheless, a talent without a purpose is a potential likely to fail. As a Christian, failure is preventable if we realize the purpose of a given talent. Purpose is defined as an anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned actions. Then the question is, if we cannot determine what lies ahead of us in the next hour, how can we successfully plan to anticipate the outcome of our actions or future? The financial client seeks out the best financial adviser with a better understanding of finances to handle their money. The tourist follows a tour guide on their trip because the tour guide has a better understanding of the location than those who are visiting. These everyday decisions are made by trusting the outcome to those we know are better than us in such situations. As for the future, no one knows the future or the hour at hand, but God. However, we are prone to trust ourselves than trust in God. When failures arise from trusting in self, at this point when failure is not accepted, it becomes denial. Confined by your own decisions, the God we put below our dreams and plans, is the same God we blame. Before the realization of A Walking New Man I planned my own future, or so I thought. With multiple art awards, national and international before high school. Then came my high school years, still drawing and painting, but without any direction, then came my junior year of high school. I had my first invention patent, as an inventor, with many patents pending. With these temporal accomplishments, my focus was my success with faith in my abilities. Drawn into the works of my own hands, everything around me became obsolete. Accomplishments, but without fulfillment. "Where is the happiness?" I thought. There must be more to life than this. The once lusher works of my hands, the desire of my heart, was nothing more, but a withering plant. With broken roots in a hard place, yet I let not go. Augustine was right when he said, the soul, created for God, will not rest until it rests in God. Slowly my artworks began to reflect my thinking, my experience and condition. Spontaneously, my works were telling a story. I was in this story, but unaware of its theme. Years later, I decided to build another art portfolio. During the selection of my artworks for the portfolio, I had an intuition. The need of a picture book showcasing my works, outweighed the need of another art portfolio. Still unaware of the unifying theme of my works, I began to select the paintings, illustrations and drawings for the picture book. It is incumbent on all artists to select their very best works in such a scenario. However, a voice within me disallowed certain selections. Instead of the beautiful landscape paintings, the realistic fine art portraits, and the drafting of complex components and inventions. The works selected, all had one thing in common, a unifying theme reflecting my walk, my experience, good or bad, and what lies ahead of me. There weren’t awards from such selections or endorsements as it was in the past, but what I gained is what we all seek, happiness. When happiness is from above, it is joy within. Sometimes happiness is not based on what we have, but understanding who we are. I am created in the image of God, the soul, created for God, will not rest until it rests in God. My rest is not striving to be great through my willpower. Rest is Living by faith, doing the little things. Blessing others through the testimony of the changes in my life, knowing there is a God who cares. For He said, I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. The selection of my works led to the book, more than a picture book, a recollection of my past, my family, my upbringing, trusting the Lord and the accumulation of wisdom. I’m not perfect today, but I am a walking new man after Him who is perfect. That my life may reflect the love and the grace of God onto others. Even though this is my testimony. Yet, it is not about me. It is about Jesus Christ and Who He is and what He has done in me and the ongoing works of the Holy Spirit in me. These words were written not for my glory, but His glory. The testimony of all believing Christians is the same. I was lost, now I’m found. My words to Him is my prayer of gratitude. Thank you, Father, by your Grace I stand in your presence by faith. Teach me your way O Lord. Replace my fear of the unknown with the knowing of You, because in You is Your good will for me. Bless my heart to trust You. That I may show patients in my endurance to know You. Teach me beforehand that I may comprehend the changes that are at hand. Teach me Your promises that in tribulation I may see Your love for me. Thank You for becoming a man. Now I know You know the pain that I sometimes feel. Conform me into Your Words. That You may watch over me more than all. Great is Your faithfulness, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen. ____________________________________ 🎨PSW·3✒© Go to HOME BOOKS RESOURCES NAMES QUOTATIONS &MORE
- Repercussion
There is always a reason for us to enact an action upon others for what they have done to us in the negative sense, but will these actions be without a repercussion? He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart. (Proverbs 11:29) These words are self-explanatory, and in today’s terminology, it will read in this manner; Those who bring trouble on their families will have nothing at the end. Foolish people will always be servants to the wise. How goes the family structure will determine the structure of the society. When the family morality and structures no longer exist, the dysfunction of society cause by the undermining of the family will setup individuals as their own bosses, while devaluing the family structure, until it is no longer relevant. Therein, society is on a path of self-destruction. Individuals will have more opportunity to better themselves and earn, but with nothing to show for, such are the cities with high crime rates. They exploit others, but never any gain for satisfaction. Therefore, there are endless abuse and crimes. Then, there are others who fueled the rise of riots, masquerading as a protest. There, they vandalize properties and homes of their neighbors and family for a gain, but in doing so, they withdraw themselves from decency while blaming those that are wise enough to partake not of their wrongdoing for a temporal gratification. In the end, their wise decision brings benefit to their action, while the unwise serve as a servant. Even, during this stage, there is hate and there is an animosity as they serve. Hate is the shackles of the heart, though a man is free to stand and walk with his two feet, but from within, his heart is bound with hate to prevent any reason for a change. Joseph was betrayed and sold by his brothers to strangers into the horror of slavery, far away from his home. Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron. (Psalms 105:18) That is to say, his feet were kept in chains, and an iron collar was around his neck. Yet, the heart of young Joseph remains free from hate toward those he served. Being a slave, he was falsely accused and yet again imprisoned. Nevertheless, he was free from hate within, consequently and he grew in wisdom. The heart that availeth itself to the righteous wisdom from the Lord, though there be obstacles of oppression, but the obstacles shall be the stepping stones of ascension. Such was Joseph, from slavery to the Viceroy of Egypt, nor was it by the act of violence against his masters, but the reality of his wisdom was an evidence to cause even those he served to bow to him, not as a slave, but a leader with potentials. Today, there is a division in the land, due to the destruction of the family structure and values. The vulnerability that leads to its destruction was from the lack of the family structure, which in turn was due to the rejection of God, and God conscience in the hearts of men. Without a moral compass of God conscience, life is but an immoral wilderness, teeming with temptations unto self-destruction. For men have become lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. (2 Timothy 3:2-4) When the family value is lost, the vulnerability of that society is exposed. Would the Africans in Africa had sold their own as slaves to the outsider if they regard the importance of the family? Regardless, of the outsiders being far advanced in the ability to navigate the seas, and with their possession of weapons far beyond the spears and arrows of the Africans. Those things did not cause the atrocity of slavery, instead the destruction, or the disregard of the family structure among the Africans, cause many Africans to be sold by their own into slavery around the world. Gone are the days of nationalized slavery, but its repercussion has been ever present. Today, all are free as Americans, but only few will ever live a life free from the history of the past. The United States is the picture of the Church of today, in types. Though it is highly recognized worldwide with the power to bring about a change for the best, but within it is crumbling. The Lord Jesus once said; Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. (Matthew 12:25) If we revisit our past, let it be to see the difference, and count the blessings for today, but the visitation of the past that is brought out up to accuse one another, instead of reconciling our differences, this will lead to a greater division and the ultimate destruction from within. The atrocity committed toward blacks in America through slavery, is not a reason to demand everyone to pay reparation to the black community. If the Black Americans are no longer slaves in the United States, why should blacks receive money for being a slave? So then, shall we neglect our history? Of course not, but let the history of the past serve as a lesson for Today. Learning should elevate the learned above their indifference, instead of driving a wedge between a nation united. Like a house, therein is diversity, the big the small, the strong, the feeble, the old and the young. Likewise, a nation, but on a larger scale, and we all are a part of this “house” we called a nation. However, He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind. That is to say, he will be without anything in the end. If we as blacks in America demand that all people reimburse us for the slavery of the past, it will be a trouble for all other Americans; Asian Americans, Arab Americans, Latino Americans and Caucasian Americans. He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart. If one group of people must receive reparation from other groups within the same country, though the price was paid for the sin of slavery through the American Civil War, wherewith, 620,000 Americans died to free the slaves, including one President of the United States. If the reparation is received by Black Americans, shall it be wrong for Caucasian Americans to immediately demand of Black Americans to reimburse all Caucasian Americans for the loss of 600,000 plus Americans who give their lives in the battles to free the slaves? Where will we draw the line and when shall it all end? The President who died because of his promise to God as a young man to someday put an end to slavery in America was President Abraham Lincoln. He once said, a house divided against itself cannot stand. These words were spoken by President Lincoln, based on the Words of Christ, and Christ has paid the price for all sins and wrongdoing of the past and future. America being a Christian nation, our conversation should not be about penance through reparation. Instead, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13) ____________________________________ 🎨PSW·3✒©
- Dear Black America
If we cannot see what lies ahead by the determination to succeed through adversity, then the motivation to succeed is replaced with skepticism for society and our fellow men. There isn’t perfection in society, or in men and neither is perfection found in any of us. If we can never let go of the past, then the future is never in reach. Letting go of the past means letting go of the wrong did to us as a people and the mistake we as people had made, by learning to make the wrong of the past the opportunity for a change, lest we are consumed with hate. Therein, the victim becomes the enemy and a hindrance to themselves. As the cities of the United States are burned and our media echo the cries of equality, are we as Black America willing to make things right with the Africans? During the mid-1800s, Free Slaves sought total freedom from the White man by forming an all Black free state on the soil of the motherland in Africa. This was the great migration of Blacks in America returning to Africa. Upon landing on the shores of Africa, the first location was named Freetown, what is today in the country of Sierra Leone. The final settling place was a piece of land on the West Coast of Africa, 88 times smaller than the United States. This land was named by the Free Slaves, Liberia; denoting freedom, liberty, and justice for all. However, soon thereafter, Black Free Slaves took to themselves the native Africans as their slaves. Upon words returning to the mainland of the United States of this act, Black Americans soon referred to the individuals kept as slaves as “house boy and house girl” They aren’t slaves they said, they work for us and we feed them. Black Americans later constructed one of the major neighborhoods in Liberia, named after a city in the State of Rhode Island, USA. This neighborhood was called Providence Island. Every home was upscale with a personal waterfront view. Social distancing was strongly observed between the native Africans and the Black Americans, unless the native Africans were serving as the manual engine to their boats of transportation and recreation. Over time, as the Africans learn to read and write they sought equality, sometimes through force, but they were swiftly crushed through the modernized weapon of that era. Many Black Americans abandon the country of Liberia they have built as a land of liberty. Today it is one of the poorest, underdeveloped nations in the world, while other commonwealths of the United States flourish, like Puerto Rico. Today, as Black Americans, we support our interest of cause within the United States, but the land we built, we have forsaken and turn our backs on its people. The calls for justice no longer echo in places in Africa where Black Americans once ruled. Now, here in the United States, most Black activist groups call for the removal of all Confederate history of the United States, such as markings, statutes, and the likes. Even Christopher Columbus, all things concerning him must be wiped out from History, the activist groups demand. Meanwhile, one of our own, Matilda Newport of the State of Georgia, along with others, having acquired and established a Colonized Society in Africa through gunboat diplomacy, the act of ostentatiously displaying military might toward the natives of the land as a sign to obey or be destroyed. Newport went on to be hailed as a folk hero for lighting up a cannon upon the Native Africans, to defend the land taken from the Natives through force. As most in Black America points out the wrongdoing of the White man in early America toward the Native tribes of America, we however hail one of our own. Matilda Newport a pipe smoking folk hero who lit up the cannon with the coal from her pipe to wipe out the displaced native people. We demanded their dependency on us and when they had no other choice, but to comply, we abandoned them for the comfort of these United States. If Black America failed so miserably to maintain a land 88 times smaller than these United States, what shall we make of the United States if it is in our hands? The young Black activist will say: I had nothing to do with what my ancestors did before me and their failure in Africa, and heck, I never even been to Africa. You can’t blame me for that! So then, why should Black America blame White America today for the atrocity of Slavery, White Americans today had nothing to do with Slavery? The young Black activist replied: There is a difference, White America today institute society in a way that oppresses Black people. Well, the effect of a failed state in Africa by Black Americans is still a reality today. Those areas they once colonized and then abandon, are some of the poorest, and most underdeveloped places in the world. Let us not forget because of that; one of those locations was the epicenter of the Ebola virus which killed so many. Also, for the lack of leadership the places colonized and abandoned by Black Americans, it created a vacuum which became a portal of wars in Africa from the late 80s to the 2000s and now with the result of joblessness and crime. Aren’t we as Black America responsible for bringing about a change there? How many of us contributed to the UMass Memorial Medical Center during the outbreak of Ebola in Liberia? For this institute was one of the spearheads in the medical fight against the virus. The young Black activist pause and rebuttal: Robert Finley was a White man who founded the American Colonization Society, and his plan of encouraging Blacks to establish themselves was the means of getting rid of Blacks in America. First of all, no Blacks boarded those colonizing ships as a Slave, they were all free to go, or not go, and upon the establishment of Providence Island in Africa, it was dubbed the first non-African settlement in Liberia. How is this important? Instead of the Black Americans integrating the Africans with the success and wealth from the United States, they separated themselves from the native of the land, their own ancestors. Hence, their settlement was referred to as a “non-African settlement” In fact, the American Colonization Society, had no influence upon the Black Americans that they should mistreat their ancestors in Africa. At this point in History, White people couldn’t travel to survive in that part of the world, it was called the White man’s graveyard. Most of all whites who attempted, they died upon the arriver due to the condition of the untamed land through malaria and other obstacles. The opportunity for a lasting change is for all people to acknowledge the wrong, of which we all have some and reach out to those who are willing to make it right, of which there are many. Then the good will ultimately outshine the bad. Until then, when we see bad in others, let it be a reminder to examine OURSELVES. Another famous Black American once said through his lyrics: I'm starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways . . . If you want to make the world a better place Take a look at yourself, and then make a change. It is better to earn equality through a humble spirit than through strife. Therein, those who succeed are respected rather than fear as an adversary of society. For where there is an adversary, rest assured someone somewhere is planning to take down the adversary. Let not our physical attributes determine our inward motives or presumption of others. For God has made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth . . . Acts 17:26 The wickedness of men is not predicated on how he looks, but the heart of the individual that is without constraint is uncontrollable in causing harm to others. If God is above all, we as individuals are aware that we are all equal in the presence of God. However, we lived in a society and the day and age where people of faith are considered buffoons. We teach our young ones that there is no God, yet we are shocked when the child turns adult and commit a hideous crime. For if there is no God, then there is no greater accountability, men and women will do as they see fit. Schools across the United States no longer discipline Black students, their excuse? It would seem racist to do so. Most of those undisciplined students will grow into men, but men who do not realize they are men because no one told them it was time to step up as men. Therefore, they act as children toward women by forsaking their responsibility and causing hurt to women. Instead of society addressing the problem of discipline and the lack of respect for all races, society instead looks at the symptom, gender inequality. Society then uses female empowerment, a good cause, but a wrong solution. Empowering women without first fixing the problem of “idiot men,” only makes the woman more of a target to a man who doesn’t respect the gender. Yet society continues to build the next generation without discipline and love for the lack of morality. Modern society hates Christians, since Christians teach morality, modern society must ignore the 10 Laws of the Christian faith, even if it is in their best interest. As our society crumbles before our eyes, the very building blocks are dismantled piece by piece. This building block is the family. It has been replaced with “I” The togetherness of love is a building block of society called the family. Without which, society is a collection of parts. Together, but not united, but with the family we are reminded of who we are, by respecting what we are a part of we cherish what we are. Therefore, we are willing to defend what we have, not by might, but the refusal to allow friction between our family and ultimately the society we are a part of. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Said Abraham Lincoln What the enemy of the United States had sought to do for ages and failed, to see the destruction of the United States: Now, the enemies of the United States are watching and licking their chops as Americans destroy themselves from within. We want change? Change will come all right, but if the change is not obtained together as a nation, that change will be the end of who we are as a people. ____________________________________ 🎨PSW·3✒©
- Can a loving God hate?
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. (Romans 9:13) Can a loving God hate? For all Christians, the widely known attribute of God is the phrase God is love. The understanding of the phrase God is love, is understood somewhat differently between the seasonal believer and those that are young in the faith, with a moderate understanding. The seasonal believer will explain how it was love that created man. Therefore, man must be redeemed through love. I.e., John 3:16. For those with a moderate understanding of the Word, they ascertain God is the representation of Good. Therefore, God is love. The assertion of both points of view is true. Then there are those scriptures, without a better understanding by the believer, it causes uncertainty. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau I have hated. Here arises the question. Can a loving God hate? To answer the question is to further understand the passage mentioned above, which is found in the book of Romans, chapter 9 verse 13. Herein the Apostle Paul relates to another book, the book of Malachi. The content here is, God is giving an account of the brothers, Esau and Jacob. Jacob, He loved, but Esau He hated. These are strong words of the God of love. However, the reference of hate here is not a disesteem directed to Esau as an individual. Rather, what Esau has willingly become. When wrong doing is accepted as the norm, the unrepentant ways of a man will soon become who he is. In the case of Esau and Jacob, twins of the same parents and raised together. Both imperfect like we all are, but Jacob in his imperfection desires the better. Whereas Esau, he display the opposite. Forsaking his responsibilities, Esau sought his establishment through the carnality of the world, with multiple marriages. Clarke said; It is very likely that the wives taken by Esau were daughters of chiefs among the Hittites (warrior race), and by this union he sought to increase and strengthen his secular power and influence. Not only did Esau grieved his parents through his marriages. In his wrong doing, he disregarded the spiritual advantages connected with his rights of primogeniture. Meaning as the oldest, and would be heir of his family, he disowned his responsibility for the whole, to delight his temporal needs. By the means of the selling of his birthright for one meal, he was deemed a profane person. One who treats sacred things with abuse and irreverence. The focus is not to count the many sins of Esau. God is a righteous God; therefore, sin and God cannot coexist, but He made a way for the sinful man to approach Him through the remission and forgiveness of sin. Nevertheless, if a man chose to dwell in his sin willingly, he becomes one with the sin. If God hates the act of sin, so shall He hate the condition of sin which is one with the sinner. In this case, Esau. ____________________________________ 🎨PSW·3✒© For more on this topic, check out: Names and its significance Go to HOME BOOKS RESOURCES NAMES QUOTATIONS &MORE
- Burden is a reminder that you are going through an experience, but it is not your conclusion.
Beyond gleaning after the reapers, never again to be the tail, but you shall be the head. Most things in the life of the believer are but a progression. Therein, those things of a humble beginning shall be an eventful conclusion if we persist. Knowing any discomfort of now cannot be compared to the reward of that which is to come. Not only for the eternal in glory, but for now as well. Within you and you alone are the awareness of the discomforts experienced and your shortcomings. So then, let it be you, in your persistence through determination by faith, continue to progress. Knowing the conclusion shall be everything you have wanted and more than you’ve imagined. The phrase gleaning beyond the reapers, it speaks of another believer. Ruth by name. Though she believed in the Lord, but the conclusion of her story was but a progression at this moment. Through others were her needs met. The reapers speak of those who work in the fields, in a higher position. These were individuals of an affluent position than that of Ruth. After their work was over, she then had to walk onto the field, and trace the path of the reapers who had already harvested the crops with the hope of finding leftovers. This was Ruth’s current condition, but it never changes the fact that she remains a believer, and she persists. Some of you are a believer, but your condition isn’t where you ought to be. Nevertheless, know this, though your condition isn’t where it ought to be, but your position in the Lord is where you ought to be. Your persistence shall be the path to your eventful reward. The LORD recompense your work, and a full reward be given you of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. Ruth 2:12 These were the words of assurance spoken to Ruth, and this day, this is the word unto you as a believer. The phrase, “under whose wings thou art come to trust,” it speaks of the humble spirit of the believer, drawing closer to the Lord for a protection in a time of need. At times, often we have to be protected from the world and the things therein, likewise at times we have to be protected from ourselves. We feel we are unworthy, but the Lord is saying; come unto Me, you are tired, I will give you rest. A rest wherewith you may rest and continue gleaning after the reapers until you do arrive at that place where you ought to be. However, in you should burn the persistence of faith. Knowing the Lord loves you. He will give you a meaningful conclusion of your heart’s desire. Come to Me, all those laboring and being burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 The Greek text reads: Come here to Me, all who are growing weary to the point of exhaustion, and who have been loaded with burdens and are bending beneath their weight, and I alone will cause you to cease from your labor and take away your burdens and thus refresh you with rest. Observe the phrase “come here.” The adverb “here,” speaks of a precise action and decision on the part of you the believer. Where are you in your life, is it where you ought to be? The Lord already knows you are tired and burdened, and why you are tired and burdened. Nevertheless, He is calling to you, come here. As in come to me. I alone will cause you to cease from your labor and take away your burdens and thus refresh you with rest. Let the feel of the burden be the reminder that you are going through an experience, but it is not your conclusion. Are you disappointed, wand’ring here and there, Dragging chains of doubt and loaded down with care? Do unholy feelings struggle in your breast? Bring your case to Jesus, He will give you rest. Sidenote Ruth unknowingly engages in the wrong at the beginning of her life’s story. For her, it was being in the wrong place at the wrong time and the wrong marriage, and she experienced difficulties thereafter, but God knew her heart. Long gone was the wrong husband from her life. She did leave behind the wrong places, but Ruth remains, with a good heart and persisted in her faith. The conclusion of her life was better than the errors and the shortcomings of the beginning of her life. For other believers, the error at your story beginning may differ than that of Ruth, but the effects are the same. Therefore, persist and you shall be an overcomer.
- How Does Biblical Faith Contribute To The Proper Functioning Of The Brain?
The human brain produces over a thousand new neurons per day, in the adult. Neurons are the fundamental units of the brain and nervous system, with responsibility for the functioning of the body and its awareness of the external world. These neurons are the hippocampal neurons. They are produced with a pending command function wherewith to function. You as a believer, be not misled by the world that you are an unsolved problem and a broken case as an individual. Every day is a new day the scriptures tell us. With the possibility of being better than yesterday. Because of this, we do not faint, but if indeed our outward man is being decayed, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 Interestingly, these neurons that are produced by the brain are responsible for the emotion, memory, and the autonomic nervous system. Considering these are built awaiting your command: Your emotion, the way you feel. Your memory, the way you perceive things. The autonomic nervous system, the way you physically function. All of these are determined through your mindset for a new day. (As we will perceive through the study) Let not your awakening to a new day be of doubt and grievance, for therein you have corrupted over a thousand hippocampal neurons within your mind which will affect your emotions, your thoughts, and your ability to function. In contrast, may your new day be of hope, and aspiration to do that which is right with a heart of gratitude. Knowing within you are a thousand "workers" willing to work for you. Believe and act upon it, for you are wonderfully made, by the Creator, your Father and your Lord. The way you think as a believer is crucial to how you live as an individual. Know who you are in Christ. You are unique, loved, and special as you are. Think of these with a thankful heart. But be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and the perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (Discipline self-control mind) 2 Timothy 1:7 Every day at your possession are thousands of neurons within you willing to function and contribute to your well-being. Do not always reason based on how you feel through sadness or fear. But act upon what you now know. Within you is miraculous greatness, by the Lord our God, act like it, through faith. Knowing the foundation of your action is based on faith. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 That is to say; to have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot yet see, but we believe. The idea conveyed in the original Greek text from the verse above reads, faith is the title deed of things hoped for, the proof of things which are not being seen. A title deed is a legal deed or document constituting evidence of a right, especially to ownership of property. Imagine a wealthy father giving to his sons and daughters multiple title deeds. At that moment in time, the recipients are officially the legal owners of their respective property. It is of their choosing to do as they please with the property. Build thereon and increase exponentially in the real-estate market. Or choose to farm the land and generate more agricultural produce. The title deeds give them a possession and a clean slate to act upon. Now, imagine you as the beneficiary of multiple title deeds. Though you do not yet see the properties, but the title deeds are the evidence of that for which you’ve hoped. Such is faith, and illustratively speaking, the title deeds are the thousands of neurons your body which is wondrously made, creates to serve you daily. Take heed and speak not negativity into your own life. Be aware and act not based on what you may have experienced in the past that was of a harm toward you. Be not anxious for that which you do not yet know. Let not your approach to a new day be of a lackadaisical initiation, but with a mind of gratitude there shall be not a place for negativity. Instead, the awareness of your blessings shall be a signal to the neurons that are responsible for your emotions. Therein, your attitude shall be of anticipation. For this is a new day that the Lord has made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it. Though I see not what is ahead, neither was I aware of my surroundings, while I slept. Nevertheless, I am awake, and God is good. And for this day, He who watches over my helpless body during the sleep hours, He shall likewise take me through this day. This is the discipline mind spoken of in 2 Timothy 1:7 and the renewal thereof. If your body does not rely on the neurons of the past, but produce thousands new neurons for each day. Now, in you is the ability of a thousand choices to benefit from the renewing of your mind daily. Finally, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 . . . and the God of peace will be with you.
- Gratitude for a change
1 Timothy 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry. Points of interest I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me - Christ Jesus is the source of the believer's power and anointing He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry - May our personal testimony be a reminder that Christ is faithful, Christ is able, Christ will do it. These are the inspired words of the Apostle Paul, being inspired by the Holy Spirit to pen these truths for all eternity. Today, may we meditate therein. Therefore, I thank Christ Jesus – a grateful heart is obligated with gratitude. Gratitude is an emotion of the heart, wherewith the heart is of sentiment of kindness. If we are without an obligation of gratitude to the Lord, then the heart is without kindness, therefore, its emotions are kindled by repugnance and constant rage. Wherewith it desires the one thing out of its reach, while ignoring all the many blessings in sight. If the individual cannot be grateful for all that they have now, they will never be grateful even if that which they desire is obtained. The burden of always wanting is great, but the freedom of being content is a peace of mind. Therefore, I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me. If I was enabled by Christ, and indeed I am, then the will to perform is not in me. My nature is without strength, but with Christ, I am strong. For He has enabled me, He counted me faithful. Am I enabled for idleness to wither away? Certainly not, He (Christ) counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry. The Apostle Paul knew the ministry, wherewith he was called into. Consequently, by the grace of God, he did that which he was called to do. However, for many believers today, it is unfortunate that the heart is without peace and their lives are without a direction. For the lack of gratitude which strips the conscience of its obligation and duties to the Lord because the mind is always occupied with obtaining that which is beyond its reach, while ignoring the building blocks of peace of the little things in sight. Change is achievable when an error is acknowledged, and the change is accepted. So then, if my fault is the error to be acknowledged, then to you O Lord, I say; change my heart O God. Renew a right spirit within me. From here on in, may my judgment be of your perfect will, and your enabling power be my strength. Change is fruitful when the gratitude of the heart serves as a reminder of the change in our lives. He (Christ) counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry - I thank You Lord for considering me worthy and appointing me to serve You. In so doing, may I be a blessing to others, by Your grace. The ministry, wherewith we are placed is the preaching of the Gospel. To preach is to proclaim, without the limits of the pulpit, but the expression of who we are through our conversation toward others, we preach, or proclaim the Gospel. Knowing the word Gospel means the good news, it is imperative that our hearts are of gratitude, without which the individual is devoid of the good news, but of negative connotations. On the contrary the heart of gratitude is aware that negativity doesn’t add, but a grateful heart is a shield from low spirits and an attraction to bring out the good in our fellow men. So then, may our personal testimony be a reminder of the gratefulness that Christ is faithful, Christ is able, Christ will do it. Thank you, Lord, for the present. May my gratitude for the present be a path to apprehend the blessings of the future.
