The True Preacher
Jesus answered and said to her, Everyone drinking of this water will thirst again; but whoever may drink of the water which I will give him will not thirst, never! But the water which I will give to him will become a fountain of water in him, springing up into everlasting life. The woman said to Him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw. Jesus said to her, Go, call your husband and come here. And the woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, Well did you say, I have no husband. For you have had five husbands, and now he whom you have is not your husband. You have spoken this truly. The woman said to Him, Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.
(John 4:13-19)
The woman said to Him, I know that Messiah is coming, the One called Christ. When that One comes, He will announce to us all things. Jesus said to her, I AM! the One speaking to you.
(John 4:25-26)
Then the woman left her waterpot and went away into the city and said to the men, Come, see a Man who told me all things, whatever I did. Is this One not the Christ?
(John 4:28-29)
Those who desire the Lord must come to Him willingly and sincerely confess their wrong doing, if they do not know they are wrong. It is the preacher's responsibility to use the Gospel in preaching holiness with love that the sinner may know they are at fault. Although the glory is not simply for one to confess their wrong doing, but true confession exposes the shame of sin and the evil thereof by shattering its hard exterior. Leaving it wasted and unwanted. Then the Word of God comes in, and mend the damages cause by sin.
