The will of God
Play
God gives promises and only God can fulfill the promises. If we abide in His will.
For you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise. (Hebrews 10:36)
Or as another translation puts it; You need to be patient, in order to do the will of God and receive what He promises.
What is the will of God?
The will of God is the counsel of God.
Counsel in its assorted meaning, can thus be summed up as, the giving of one’s opinion on how to best deal with the specific situation. Therefore, the one given the counsel must decide to reject or accept. This is the free moral agency …whosoever will. (Revelation 22:17)
However, the accepting of the will of God through His counsel isn’t obtained through works. Rather, as a gift, it is freely received. By faith we conclude in our mind that whatsoever our current condition, or situation is, the acceptance of the will of God is better than what we are, or what we are going through.
So then, if we are under the counsel of God, we shall abide in His will. Consequently, we let go of our will and follow His will. We cannot live without a will, but our will must be made conformable to God's will (Galatians 2:20) through faith. In that we believe He will do that which He has promised.
However, let not the believer's focus be on the promise, but rather the source of the promise from God our father through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Christ once said, in order for anyone to learn of Him and this Devine will, we ought to forsake our will. So then, by faith let us accept the will of God in our lives.
Noah Webster defined Will as, Divine determination; moral purpose or counsel.
Hence, our determination is not on the things of the promise, but rather a Divine determination by our love toward God, to seek His counsel.
Let our anticipation be His guidance toward us. Seek ye first the reign of God and His righteousness, (in our lives) and all these shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33 YLT)
Pursuing
However, be not dismayed, in the pursuing for the revelation of the will of God. For it is not brought forth through wisdom, but through failure. This failure shall be a revelation, if the heart desires a change. If this change is carried out by God, it is no longer a failure, but the mending of that individual by God, for an imputed righteousness by Faith.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask from God, who gives to all freely and with no reproach, and it will be given to him.
(James 1:5 LITV)
